Hi @Kamila
I’m based in London and will be here during your sit dates. Happy to meet. Let me know where and when works best.

Stupid question, I know…how does one know where the bus stops in the UK? I can see the route on Google maps, but when I followed the directions, it just ended with no indication of the stop. Has happened 2 times now. I went into a nearby shop, and the clerk had no idea where the stop was. I waited but no bus arrived. Btw, first time ths sitter without a car. I lived/worked here years ago but never had to take the bus. I’m in East Midlands.

There’s usually bus stops
IMG_2782 which look something like the above. Quite often it’ll tell,you the bus company (in this case Coastlinx53) and the bus numbers. Next to or near there should be a notice board which tells you the times and days it stops there. You could also down load an app. If you message me I’ll try and find your bus route for you.

@Kamila I’ll be on a sit near Ripon from 9 to 21 Aug, and will be coming to York on one of these days to visit friends - not sure which yet as their move to York has been delayed, but hopefully they’ll be in by then. So I could visit them am or pm and meet you pm or am if that works.

@willisangela

Here’s a helpful link to all the bus companies in U.K. .

Select the area East Midlands and then select the town / area and you’ll see all the routes and timetables select the stop you want .
There’s a link to Google “street view “ so you can see a photo of the bus stop location .

Sorry OP to divert from your meet up thread.

Very helpful! Unfortunately, there was a sign but no indication of which bus and when. I’ll try your tips and will look again. I appreciate your support!

@willisangela a sign as in the photo @Elsa1 provided without any bus routes listed on it could be a bus stop that is not in use - no buses stop there. This would explain why none arrived. We have at least a couple of bus stops like that near where I live, where there is a bus stop complete with sign and markings on the road, but no bus routes run along that section of road!

There are lots of no-bus bus-stops around where I live too. The route got cancelled recently.

This happened to me in a small UK town. Clearly no local ever took the bus! Nobody knew where the bus stops were. I found one by trial and error!

Hi @Kamila I’ve sent you a message about your York sit.

If you put the bus number into Google and location you should find a timetable and route map.
