I’ve sent out dozens of invites (which takes a lot of time and frankly I’m surprised there isn’t a way to send out multiple invites at once) and have only one person say maybe they would consider sitting. Does anyone have any tips on getting someone to commit? This shouldn’t be so hard!
Hello, if you give on this forum the link to you listing on THS , it could help you
To do it go to the thread “how to add a listing or profile on my forum profile” explained by Vanessa
I think it is a little rare for home owners to get sitters by contacting them first. Most of the time, sitters are searching for something that meets their wants/needs and will make the first contact. I don’t want to discourage you, because I’m sure there are exceptions, but the odds are going to be low. As Candide said, add your profile link to your forum profile and we’ll see if we can give you any advice.
Hello @mskillern and a warm welcome to the forum. I’m sorry to hear you haven’t yet had any take-up on your invites for your Mid-March and May sits. I see you’ve only recently added the listing and so I wouldn’t give up hope just yet as people will be viewing on the website also and that’s often where responses come. If you take @Candide’s advice and add the link to your listing here on your profile listing it will help get some extra exposure.
Your property and cat look lovely and I wonder if you are downplaying what a lovely house you have by saying “simple house” in your listing title. In the UK for instance, a simple house can suggest it lacks comfort and amenities, and your house certainly looks very cozy! I love your bath tub!!
If you are meaning it is an easy house sit… then maybe a tweak to “simple house sit with …” or “easy house sit with …” might just help. Just a thought, but if sitters are scanning through sits, the title can play a big part.
I’m sure you’ll get some other tips here from our members and if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask. All the best, Vanessa
I’ll also add to @Vanessa_A 's comment to perhaps come back to the forum and post a quick message when you have added a link to your forum username. That will let forum members know, and we can go in and give you some constructive feedback.
Yes, I agree with @Brad. I’m a sitter as well as a homeowner, and I’ve sent out a few invites, particularly to people who have “favorited” my listing, with no luck. I think it all boils down to the dates and if they don’t work for someone, they just don’t work, no reflection on you, your pets, or your home. I know that, many times, as a sitter, I’ve favorited a homeowner’s post, in hopes it will come up at a future time when I can sit.
