I am a new member looking for a house sitter and I’m in the middle of interviewing prospective candidates. I just got an email from the system saying that my photos have been reviewed and determined to be real estate/staging photos. They are not. My house is only five years old, I keep it in pristine condition, and I took all the photos myself inside and outside. I rent a portion of my house on Airbnb and so the house looks and feels like a resort because I keep it that way. I was kind of offended and I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do. Make my house messy? Whoever sits at my house is going to walk in and see exactly what is in my photos. I replied to the system email, but I’ve heard nothing back yet. Thoughts, options?
If they want proof, shoot photos with today’s newspaper or today’s news on a TV screen.
That’s a great idea. I offered to do a video walkthrough, but I don’t know if a reply person is real or a ai bot. Still waiting to hear back. In the meantime, my listing (which I paid for) is frozen and I’m traveling next month.
That sounds frustrating.
It’s interesting though, because in the past I came across real estate photos on the platform. The HO just used what their flat was advertised with when up for rent. I didn’t know this now gets flagged.
Is the listing still ‘live’?

Don’t be offended @RonnieB , be proud sounds like somewhere most of us would want to sit. Good to hear it’s been sorted.
If you rent a portion of your home out on Airbnb hopefully this isn’t the responsibility of the sitters, has a completely separate entrance and no shared use of the gardens. I thought it was worth mentioning as you had mentioned it in your post.

It’s kind of nuts that that got flagged, when there have been plenty of listings with inadequate photos, missing photos, and I have seen one which actually did have real-estate-listing photos – several duplicate pictures from the condo company’s promo website – instead of the actual apartment!
@RonnieB, building on comments from @BonnyinBrighton then suggest that you read THS Guest & Third Party Policy to ensure compliance.
We have completed housesits in a few places where Pet Parents had an Airbnb unit. In each case the Airbnb unit was consciously left unbooked and vacant during the housesit period.

Thanks for your concern, but that’s not an issue in my situation. First, I would not engage someone to sit my house while other people are in it, as I imagine that would violate alot of rules. Second, my municipality does not allow me to have airbnb guests unless I am physically onsite; these are the conditions stated expressly in my city permit. Suffice it to say, my house sitter will be alone and responsible only for my home.
In that case it’ll be important to mention this in your listing.
