When I originally joined THS, I had one cat in my listing. Unfortunately, he has since passed away. I am considering getting a new cat & want to make clear in my listing that this is a new cat than had been in my 2 existing reviews. My previous cat had been very old & required medications and a sitter experienced with senior cats. That would not be the case with a new cat.
Also, how best to handle the details about the cat if I haven’t had him for very long? I have travel coming up in December and I may only have about a month with a new cat before traveling.
If it was me @Sculls-sodium-0j, I would not be getting the new cat until you return from your holiday. I think it’s unfair on the cat and the sitter.
As to your listing, it really needs to be rewritten, removing all about your past cats and being very clear with the responsibilities and information about your new cat (which you don’t know yet).
Your Welcome Guide will also need to be updated too.
Unfortunately I don’t have the option to avoid this travel, it’s for business. Also, I’ve already found the cat I may be getting. I’m picking him up from a rescue this weekend for a trial period. Obviously I will need to rewrite my listing and Welcome Guide to remove reference to my previous pet, that’s why I’m here asking for suggestions on how best to do that since the pet will be new to me.
This shouldn’t be too challenging @Sculls-sodium-0j to communicate your pet changes.
Change your first sentence to something such as "I had great sitters for my previous cat, , and am looking forward to having sitters for my new cat,, who came to live with me in October 2025.(note that the bold font was not by me)
I have seen several listing that mention that reviews prior to a specific date were referencing a previous pet or previous home or did not include the newest pet. It helps minimize confusion.
