When I have new dates for a sit, it would be nice to be able to look at sitters I have “favourited” first, and filter them by my dates. For example. I have a short-notice sit available (haven’t posted yet). I would like to be able to enter my dates, and then see which of my favourite sitters would be available during that time and invite them first. If nobody can do it, then I would put it up as an available sit and see who answers. Just a suggestion.

There is no good way of seeing if a sitter is available.
That would not work. Even if a sitter appears available i.e not booked on a THS sit they might be busy or unavailable for other reasons, or simply not interested at that time. Its better just to post your dates publicly as soon as possible.
