So I have future dates that I’m not quite ready to list, but I wanted to send a headsup to a bunch of great sitters who I’m already in touch with through the email system, so they should be able to reply and I should be able to reach out without sending an invitation. I wrote up an email with details about one definite upcoming date and one probably shorter sit, and then realized that there doesn’t seem to be any way to send a message to multiple people in the system. Maybe I’m wrong. So my question is if anyone has figured out how to send a message to more than one person without simply copying the message again and again again, let me know. Also curious at other glitches or issues with the “new” system.
There’s no such way that I would’ve found, but I also never had use for it. If you want to send the exact same to multiple people, copy+paste should be easy enough?
Well I am glad it doesn’t work. I think most people appreciate a personalized message and surely, as @elmi4711 has mentioned, copy-paste is not such hard work for someone you want to trust your house and pets with.
Edited:
I eat my words. I completely misunderstood the whole point. It is clear after @CatsAndDog explanation.
I think @CatsAndDog are a dab hand at this stuff. #askapro
Based on the title, I thought your post referred to the new Inbox and Application text box. The new version of which is broken, and to my surprise still hasn’t been fixed several months after its introduction…
Sending the same message to multiple people is not possible anymore, thanks to the new inbox
It was actually quite handy @elmi4711 @Newpetlover
I used the feature once to open a line of communication with several sitters, who had favourited my listing. In the message I explained it wasn’t a personal invitation but since the 5 application limit makes applying sits pretty hard, I wanted to give them the opportunity to message me anyway in the future, even if the listing would be paused because of 5 applications.
I live in a popular location, so get 5 applications quickly, and quite many of those are unsuitable. I do go through the applications promptly, but there are times that the listing would be paused for hours (like when I’m sleeping, which would be day time for most of the sitters who apply).
Thanks for the explanation. I was not aware of this change or how this can be helpful for owners and sitters.
It makes sense if it’s clear it’s not an invitation but a channel of communication. And it’s a possible way round the 5 applications limit.
Yes this is exactly what I wanted to do. And I don’t think it’s rude to do so. I did wind up cutting and pasting the message.
Of course it’s not rude if you tell everyone that this is a mass mail and explain why you do it. Keep on rocking… err… copy+pasting now I guess…
@Newpetlover which is probably why the removed the functionally. Can’t have people beating the system. I have stopped revealing my work-arounds on this forum. It seems the production team do read some things and then shut off the loop holes.
It was a nice work around. I could check in with previous sitters to see if anyone was interested and also with people who didn’t get the sit previous times because something with scheduling might not have been ideal at the time, but who seemed great. Didn’t usually work out, but kept things friendly.
This is the topic I am searching for! Has anyone else been unable to read messages on the “new inbox”? It is a jumbled mess on the screen so I can not make out the message, nor send a properly typed response as all the elements are on top of one another. What happened? The previous inbox was just fine and easy to use. I searched for an email to send a screenshot, but …?
It sounds like you’re talking about the app. You should also state which version and which operating system you use. I’m 100% sure Android and IOS apps are developed by different teams, and the info is crucial.
I am always using the web version, this has never been an issue.
I’m using the desktop version, not the app. Mac OS with a Chrome browser.
IOS == Apple phone OS, do you mean MacOS?
(I’m on MacOS, Firefox, I don’t see overlapping stuff in the inbox)
I usually use the website where the interface for the new messaging system also isn’t great. I was trying to write a full response to a question but I could only see a small message box.
