Thank you Val, for your suggestions. I will change the wording to include winter activities. I won’t be paying a dog walker, since I joined Trusted House Sitters to have people dog/house sit. But I do appreciate some of your suggestions and could make potential snow shovelling arrangements.
I get it. Just giving suggestions that would help the sit appeal to the largest possible number of people so you get the best-quality applicants.
Think of it as an even exchange: loving house & pet care for pleasant lodging and reasonable expectations. In the summer, the lodging and the expectations are much, much more pleasant. In the winter, less so, so you may find you need to sweeten the pot a bit to even the exchange back out and attract more applicants.
I mean, you totally could find someone like mam1996t, who wants to be in that exact area at that exact time. Or someone local who would love to get a review. And if your backup plan is to hire a sitter, kennel the dogs, or get a friend to come in, and you’re good with that, it’s fine. Like I said, just making suggestions about possible reasons no one is responding to your listing.
I agree with you. I’ve never kennelled my dogos (and they’d need puppy therapy if I started now). I’ve used “Rover” - the app, but they are unbelievably expensive and I wasn’t overly impressed with a couple of them. The gal I had before with Trusted House sitters was wonderful but will be in a different country on the dates that I need her. As much as I love my dogs, I’ll be relieved when I don’t have to go through this process any time I’m away. It was easier when my husband was still alive and I’d visit my family in Ontario. He’d stay with the dogs. Anyway, yes, I’d have to sweeten the pot (as you say). I’m tempted to put it on FB but then you’re not really sure who you’ll get and how trustworthy they are…
@Nagy26 your tips are so incredibly valuable! I have already used a bunch of them to try to improve my listing. No responses yet but fingers crossed that’s because it’s Easter weekend and folks are busy with other things. One really basic question - how do you create bullet points in a listing? I see the formatting menu here in this comment box in the forum, but there are no such formatting options that I can see when I go to edit my listing. Am I missing something? Thanks!

I don’t think there’s way to directly insert bullet points, but you can always just use the dash ( - ) on your keyboard and hit enter to place them underneath eachother
