Well, at least explain that when you select cats you don’t get all sits that include cats, but only those that ONLY contain cats. To me, it’s counterintuitive.
I have updated the wording, lots of the photos and generally changed it pretty radically. Now to see what happens I suppose.
Took a look, it’s much better! It’s very direct, explains and attracts and looks good to me. Wishing you good luck!
It looks good and I wish I could come and do it actually…but of course, already have things going on during that timeframe. I am saving your listing though. I’ve also heard biking through the cotswolds is a “thing” now. Hope you find a good sitter.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. Though now on our 39th sit (our 32nd on this platform), we had no idea that the ‘cats and chickens’ filter would not show cats and/or chickens! That’s ridiculous!
Thank you, you’d be very welcome. There are some nice hills to keep you fit around here for sure on a bike. Many locals have electric ones!#
Carol
Thank you!
Wait! Seriously?
I think that when you select Cats and Poultry, that Sits with either or both of those should create an Alert for you.
Let us all know!!
@CazFi
That listing is much better, but the pic of the 2 kittens - lovely as they are - could be confusing. This sit is for a single, adult cat, right? I’d remove any pics which do not illustrate what the sit offers right now.
Also edited to say: the pics of the squirrel / logs / roses would be much better replaced by pics of the actual home and garden. I like to see what the exterior of the property looks like, as well as clear pics of the interior (which look lovely, by the way).
I understand what Ziggy means now: unless sitters are searching for cats plus chickens, sits with both won’t show. The cat filter will only show sits with cats, not cats with other animals, so the OP’s listing may have been limiting hits.
Exactly @Happypets and so the nice OP with the cats & chooks wouldn’t get anyone who didn’t click chickens too even though we (& loads of others) would happily take on care of some poultry on an easy cat sit. Massively reduces possible applicants. #needstweaking
@Cuttlefish I agree that the OP will probably receive more applicants by not selecting chickens. There must be plenty of sitters who are searching for cats but don’t mind looking after a few chooks as well but hadn’t really thought about making this selection in the filters.
I hadn’t really thought about this before, but in future will always select the chickens filter, no matter what other pet we’ve selected to search for.
I think your listing is really good. I am an experienced sitter and always looking for sits in the Warwickshire area , particularly Leamington Spa area as it is my home base where my family and friends are. I am always looking to fill gaps in sits and yours would be ideal. I cannot do the dates listed because I am on another sit. However, if you waned to go away Oct 28 - Nov 3, or oct 31 to Nov 6, I would sit for you :). Although I would not take a short sit of 1/2/3 days etc.
I cannot understand why you do not get any offers as it is a beautiful area of the country.
Good luck with your search
John
@Happypets I think HOs should always put the pets they actually have. To me, only putting cats to draw more sitters to the listing indicates a lack of transparency. So, even if I would not have minded the chickens, I would not apply because it would seem very odd that they did not put all the animals they actually have. I would see it as a potential red flag. The filters are one of the few things that works on THS (although there needs to be more filters). Sitters should be able to click the animals they want to care for and not need to wade through sits with other animals.
I agree @systaran . Red flag.
Especially when you consider the eggs
Absolutely! There’s nothing like a fresh egg from chooks you’ve cared for and got to know!
Thanks, John
We want to keep the dates the same, to make the most of the daylight.
There are other paid options that I might need to resort to. After hours of putting the information together and now rewriting and re-photographing, it is enormously frustrating that the website isn’t finding me any sitters. If I lived somewhere unpleasant, I could understand it.
The site needs to improve its search to allow people also to exclude any animals someone can’t deal with.
Carol
OK I’ve deleted them all. I’m not prepared to put pictures of the outside at the front up for various reasons.
Could - or would - you post pics of the rear of the house, and garden? When looking for a sit we consider the dates, the area, the property (both inside and out), the pets and the wording of the listing. All those components allow us to make an informed choice.
Is it possible for you to boost the listing (as a sitter, I’ve no idea if this is something which is available)?
We’d apply, if we could accommodate the dates. But, that is largely based on what you’ve written on here. If I was just browsing the listings, I’d wonder why there were no property pics.
