I saw a sit in a town that I need to be at. The sit is for 2 weeks and the dates overlap my confirmed sit. I would like to message the host to enquire about possible date adjustment. They have the low application note on their listing. But due to the new policy, I can’t message them. “You’re busy with another sit”. Is there no way at all to contact them?
For every “perfect location, High end easy sit” there are also less ideal desperate homeowners.
So while I can agree that if a couple are taking two desirable, competitive sits seems unfair, some of us also feel bad for people who end up getting a neighborhood to feed their cat once a day.
Luckily I save email addresses and phone numbers and have reached out to help past sits if they seem desperate. I remember one was “I’d like to give the sit to a person who needs it first, but I’ll contact you if necessary”. They had been sitters before and understood the platform.
Unfortunately no
You can try saving them as a favourite in the hope they will message you -
You can’t contact them directly, but you can ask another sitter to contact them on your behalf.
@AnnaBaker As @Lassie suggests I too would contact a fellow sitter member here and get them to forward your profile link to the potential host with a message expressing your interest. If they like the look of you they can then message you directly and negotiate dates.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks for the tip.
I did. Do all hosts get notification of the saves? But they’ll probably see my dates clash.
I was talking about one account used by two people to do two totally different sits.
They ‘understood the platform’? But this is a house and pet sitting site, not a charity for those in need of accommodation. Sorry to sound blunt but, if pet parents want to rank sitters according to ‘neediness’ rather than who can do the most efficient and caring job of looking after their pets and home, that’s a new one on me. We have, however, encountered the ‘It’s only fair I should first speak with the people who applied before you’ response. In those cases, we’ll withdraw our application and let them get on with it.
In our experience the best sits are where we are consciously chosen, soon after applying.
I’ve been able to apply for sits that start on the day the last one ends. I applied for one as recently as today… but there was a period of time recently where it wasn’t possible. The system kept telling me I was busy with another sit.
