@mcbridesrus, glad you’ve seen. A few items in parody listing … e.g. platform 3/4 travelers … are simply entertainment. But we’ve come across a frightening number of listed items, or close variants, in our own experiences - actual housesits, actual video calls or actual listings. Gotta laugh.
We continue to believe that most people on THS are good, sensible, nice people. But there are exceptions. Mind boggles.

I feel cheated currently on a perfect sit. Everything described is correct , great welcome guide, hospitable home owners, clean and bright house with comfy beds and lovely shower. Two beautiful, well behaved , funny cats. Space in fridge , pantry and chest of drawers. Only negative is one of the cats likes to bring us gifts, thankfully dead so far (but we were warned about this possibility) . Long may it continue…….

@Aideen, that’s wonderful to hear and a fabulous way to be ‘cheated’.
Most of our housesits have been really great. Some have been off-the-charts spectacular. A subset have been educational experiences.
We’ve had multiple sits with gifts from outdoor cats. While bit uncomfortable then we did not consider a big deal. Most outdoor cats that we’ve looked after have been lovely.

This was in an actual listing on THS for a house sit in Alaska, as I remember:
“Our adult children, and their friends, may stop by, unannounced, from time to time, and stay in the house indefinitely. Sitters need to provide them with food, booze and home cooked meals, anytime they ask, day and night. Sitters also need to clean up after them and do their laundry.”
Oh! And there were around 2 dozen or so sled dogs to watch, feed, exercise and clean after!

For any folks that deem OP contents as unimaginable … then THS Forum post today … “100 additional meat chickens and the pigs were not listed until I arrived and saw the additional animals” … oh boy

“…and one each, knife, fork, spoon. The dishwasher is not to be used. Please replace any dishwashing liquid you use.”
“Check and replace cockroach traps twice daily. Apply flea treatment to all pets weekly and spray for fleas twice weekly. Extra attention behind and under furniture.”
“We did not have time to clean the fridge. When you arrive, check produce bins, remove any liquified meats, and bleach the interior of the fridge. As noted, there is not enough room in it for your own food. Please eat out.”
…actually, they probably wouldn’t say “please”
