This lovely mix of Schnauzer and Poodle has some charming behaviour. Whenever I need to locate her I don’t bother whistling. I go to the kitchen and open some biscuits! She does a circular spin on arrival. Full of anticipation!
When I’m eating she is my dumb waiter. She sits quietly nearby and gives me a beady stare.. They have a perfectly good dishwasher machine installed but she would happily assume the role of pre washer!
This will go on for a two week stay.. will I crumble?

Well, Winnie in this case!
This dog creases me up. We finally head off for a walk in what is supposed to be a drying time of day according to my weather app. Ok well it was wrong! Huge puddles everywhere and growing.. Winnie as she goes along in true waterdog fashion walks through each one and tastes them too! I guess I’d do that if wine got spilt!
I sat a dog who loved to drink from puddles, even in his backyard, though he had plenty of fresh, clean water indoors. Made me laugh.
This sweet Schnauzer/Poodle cross sleeps with me. She’s so good, the perfect sleeping partner! She is the perfect fleecy hot water bottle! Doesn’t snore ( well I’m deaf so don’t judge! ) or fidget and only wakes when I do! One pit stop a night (when I get up too). We are having back to back storms down here on the Costa del Sol ! ( Heavy irony) I couldn’t wish to be anywhere else. “ Winnie” is a winner!
My favourite breed actually….
Sometimes we are social workers in this profession. One rescue who is reactive and territorial has a play date with another rescue who is deaf but socially adjusted and isn’t into playing with toys. So the initial meeting wasn’t easy. My charge saw the guests arrive and got introduced. He needed to assert his position as top dog but after some futile “humping” ,both males have been castrated, they ran around and managed to have fun and play. What a delight to see that and share photos with the owner who is abroad at present.
On the strength of this we will arrange more fun and games.
Both ended up dog tired but so happy!

My time with this Beagle is drawing to a close. I love him so much! He is energetic and always up for a walk. He works on me after he has been fed and starts by licking my legs in earnest, beginning at my feet. He rests his head on my feet too to keep reminding me that I have a dog to consider! He only barks when absolutely necessary! I love that so much. We both know sleep is sacrosanct.
He is very well behaved generally. We are working on his habit of eating random tissues when we are out on walks.. but really I have to say he’s a delightful companion. He will never like cats and he does put on a fierce display if we pass large dogs, especially intact ones!
Funnily enough we passed very close by two massive dogs ( Mastiffs crossed with Labs) and he didn’t make any fuss. Admittedly he knows them and the owner is a policeman.. so best behaviour won! I won’t miss having my arm wrenched out of its socket when least expected. He has a double lead one for his collar and the other for his harness. That way I always win the show of strength.
My current sit dog is a mix of the super sweetest, gentlest and best behaved dog I’ve ever known or sat.
I’ve not heard him bark once, even when scrambling after a squirrel. He has terrific recall and automatically returns to check in during off leash walks. I haven’t had to leash him at all, because there are countless stretches of beach, woods and lakefront on this sit, easily accessible.
He plays well with other dogs and is happiest chasing and being chased. It makes me happy to see him running around.
There are huge trees with lots of nuts in the backyard, so lots of squirrels that taunt him. He shoots outside as soon as you open the back door, so you have to make sure he doesn’t knock you over. 
He’s on the larger end of dogs I sit, but weighs about the same as my rescue mutt. Mine is built densely, so he’s smaller by a third. My sit dog has his weight spread out over a larger mass.
He’s super lovable. I would happily take him home if it were possible.
Let the soft soaping begin! Well it must work we’ve done two long walks a day since I arrived!
It’s very easy getting around me! Ha ha!
He is not to be let off the lead which is why I walk him for long distances. He’s in his prime and how I would love to see him run free in a pack ! In my dreams and his!
He’s safe and secure that means a lot. How someone could willingly give him up I will never understand but I am so glad I leave him in a wonderful environment with very loving, experienced dog owners .
Hope I get to look after him again it’s been a privilege and a joy. Bizu is the best!
