When a HO names their pets ‘Trouble’ or ‘Venom’ or ‘Fang’ does it impact whether you will be likely to consider that sit? Dogs called ‘Nigel’ or ‘Penny’ are these sounding from first glance more like your kind of dogs? When has a dog’s name been completely the opposite of its character like a huge dog called ‘Tiny’ or a mini dog called ‘Godzilla’ ?
Just a fun list really….
We draw the line at Voldemort or Cthulhu Edit: or Donald
Psoglav (Soggy to his friends) was a cutie.
Havoc the Labrador was no trouble at all.
coming from someone called one-eyed_scallywag… no, I’m not particularly put-off by these kinds of names😂
At a recent sit I had two dogs, one a large, though gentle, dog Beagle X Old English Sheepdog called Twinkle
As long as I can pronounce the dog’s name, I’m good!
Pushkin the cat, wasn’t really very intellectual.
I’m currently sitting a cat called Hatshe, short for Hatshepsut, an Egyptian queen!
I love oppositional names!
Ie
A great dane named Tiny or a teacup pup named Giant
A turtle named Speedy
A herbivore pet named t-rex lol
I’ve found that the scarier the name, the cuddlier the cat! I do tend to be drawn to cats named after poets.
My brother’s cat is named Dexter (after the serial killer in the programme of the same name).
I called in the pub at the weekend and was introduced to a dog called Dexter for the same reason.
I’m presently sitting Pickles and I assumed Cheese but it’s Dylan the villain.. no they are both gorgeous good life lovers who are happy to share their good fortune with uncle Mark.
IME, names like “Fang” or “Venom” say nothing about the animal and a lot about the owner. If the dogs are also huskies, GSDs or akitas, I’d avoid..
That reminds me of the old story of the guy whose dog was named ‘Shark’. He lived near the beach, and during walks, when he called the dog back, would cause an absolute panic!
