Pet sitting Christmas 2024

For the last two years we’ve been away, so this year we decided to be closer to our families. Two months ago we confirmed a 1.5 month sit in North London and I also asked the HO if my mum could stay over for Christmas and she said yes! My partner’s family will be in London as well so we are very excited! I’m Polish and our Christmas is always a big deal, so it will be great to be with family and friends together again

My very first sit was last year at Christmas, for a charming cat - the HO even decorated their tree for me. A lovely surprise was a neighbour inviting me over for Christmas lunch - “please help my husband eat the turkey!”

I recently confirmed this year’s Christmas sit: a dog, a cat, hens and a baby tortoise.

This Thanksgiving I will be in a historic house in savannah, georgia, caring for an elderly dog and kitty cat. I’m looking forward to it, i love elderly little dogs. They need special care. And i’m happy to provide it. And savannah is such a beautiful city, full of historic charm.

For Christmas, I’m gonna be down in Coral Gables. Florida caring for a little pup. The homeowners wanted to make sure I was aware that spanish was the predominant language there, not english. LOL you gotta love south florida. (I do).

Have you read that wonderful book “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” by John Berendt? Its one of the best books I’ve ever read, it’s a non fiction novel about Savannah. They made it into a movie but that was nowhere near as good as the book. If you want more insight into the history of Savannah I highly recommend that book. @Sidney :cowboy_hat_face:

@Gabba , this could be a good selection for the TrustedHousesitters Book Club.

We have just joined THS and would love to spend this Christmas in London, looking after some furry friends. At the moment we are finding it difficult as, being new, they are not giving us many opportunities!

But we will keep trying :muscle: :muscle:

London is highly attractive, I would think you really need to do some sits and get reviews from sits on your profile to get a London-sit @Iria . See if you can get some short and local sits so you can pump up your profile with a few reviews. That will give you a better chance. Best of luck and safe travels!

A few days ago we booked a sit in London running from December 12th to Jan 3rd. I am looking forward to being there that time of year. We visited in the spring of 2023 and are excited to go back.

We aren’t in a central area of the city but between having already sat in such a neighborhood–which is always nice but not our utmost priority-- and being able to reach this ‘prime’ area in about 25 minutes from a very nearby overground station, it wasn’t an issue. The hosts are really friendly, and it will be an easy sit with just one cat. I will be in East London and there is so much to explore there too.

I don’t sit during year-end holidays, but love London over Christmas and NYE. Gorgeous and so festive. I always want to return, but especially then.

Savannah is great (so is Charleston — only a couple of hours away), but I try to avoid hurricane season.

On my current sit I’m preparing for my Christmas sit (dog, cat, baby tortoise)

(No plans to make them for the hens - I hope they won’t mind)
