Finally got the crate training course completed!

I trained my dog to not lick me in the face. He learned quickly. Sometimes forgets when he’s excited, like when I return from a trip. By contrast, he licks my husband all of the time.

How did you train him @Maggie8K ?

My wife licks me all the time… following! Ha ha!
Seriously that myth about a healing tongue is all rubbish.. it can cause sepsis to an open wound.. I used to let my dogs lick me in the past..
Please don’t use tongs!

I’d pull my face away every time he tried to lick and would say, “no.” He caught on quickly.

He can still express affection, like licking my hands, wagging his tail, staring into my eyes, nuzzling, jumping on me, snuggling. He likes to sleep on my lap a lot.

As much as we’ve trained him, though, he’s also trained us to do his bidding. :joy:

Ok a more serious post today.
I agree with this photo comment. A growling dog is telling you something important.
We had Great Danes but my youngest child enjoyed being strict with it.. maybe because she felt aggrieved in the pecking order! When she came home the dog didn’t growl. He dived under the bed!
So we do need to pay attention to the warning signs and act on them.

Wasn’t sure where this would sit comfortably on the forum categories. It’s definitely deep love.
It’s important to stress we are Pet Sitters and not suitable sits for pets! Size should always be a consideration. Size of seat, size of sitter, and SIZE of PET.
What’s the biggest pet you’ve sat for? My Great Danes were happy to let their legs fold neatly so they could look smaller on my lap.
This lady is somewhat struggling, I venture.

Great Danes are always a Great size!

I really do bond with dogs and the more time I spend with them the more obvious it seems to be to me and others witnessing.
Dogs have so impressed me in many ways.
I accept not everyone feels the same way.
I wanted to share this post. We have high expectations of dogs in our time of need. What about in their time of need?
Cats have greater freedom. Dogs are viewed as very second class by many.

Resting for the beach! Smart dog.

My dog loves road trips and adventures. But he quickly learned: If we’re on a freeway, he dozes off. As soon as we near a town or city and start driving slower, he wakes up. He realized that freeways are boring to him — not much to look at. But with towns and cities, there’s stuff to look at and there are people, bicycles and such to bark at.

Another smart dog! At least he doesn’t say “ Are we nearly there, now?”

And so to bed… there’s nothing like waking up to a warm cuddle bug of a ginger cat! Max has conquered! And ohh yes, he knows!
