I’m so happy to read all of this information. We have a premium plan and will be visiting Switzerland at the end of August. It would be nice to have a lounge pass for the Atlanta, GA airport which is where we’re flying from.
Thanks for your help, everyone! I ended up putting the lounge name in the airport name line (like “Airport - Lounge Name”) and that worked-- a human has to actually make the reservation after sending it via chatbot, and luckily they understood what I wanted.
I’ve seen lounge passes costing $70 usd if you don’t have a membership or credit card that offers them. These credit cards are like $500-600 annually. Other offers I’ve seen, the cost is still $35 per person. So, the passes, along with the insurance, makes premium a lot more appealing to me.
Unlimited passes as an extra benefit for £100, apart from being exempt from paying booking fees and having cancellation coverage? Not very realistic expectations, I’m afraid.
Perhaps those booking fees are a completely unnecessary scam in the first place?
And I’ve never cancelled / been cancelled in over 150 sits.
Nevertheless, I do hear you. I almost never fly, haven’t flown for years, just that this summer I have a couple of flights and thought I might be able to squeeze some benefits from my ‘premium’ membership.
If you use the Istanbul IST IGA lounge it’s now €110 a person so even two free per year is a winner for us! BKK was $76 each last time and Doha roughly the same so still great value. Unlimited would be amazing but hey, you can’t have it all. #loungelizards
Tips and tricks required for first time user of these. Just renewed with the upgrade to premium and never in my life used an airport lounge. Generally choose flights with quick transit times as the flights are always long. So my question is how and where do you feel you have got the best value out of your passes?
Yes, one entry for the both of you. We had never used an airport lounge before and then we did. Boy, did we like it. Had a 2.5 hour layover and we wish it was longer. Food and drinks were good, and the lounge was relaxing. You have a year, so I’m sure you’ll have an opportunity to use the passes at some point.
@Cathie when we had a 6 hour Layover at LHR flying from Zurich to SYD after 5.5 months away. The lounge was pretty ordinary but better than being in out in the terminal.
The Coral Finest Business Class Lounges at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International airport are amazing. Elaborate dishes and cocktails, free showers, free massages etc. Any lounge where you can take a free shower and refresh after a long flight is a winner.
You have a year to book but they can actually be used after a year.
It’s important to remember to book at least 72 hours in advance. They don’t always enforce this rule but they sometimes do.
If you have several connections where it can be used, my advice would be to do some research before hand to maximize the benefits. You can check the lounges available at the terminal where you will be and contrast the information about services, location and opening times. For example, sometimes they can be quite distant from your boarding gate and might not be worth for a short connection or they might be closed when you really need them.
Most of them limit the stay to three hours right before departure. If it’s not very busy they may not enforce it, so it’s worth giving it a try but don’t expect to be admitted before that. If your flight is delayed, then you can stay longer.
Thanks everyone for you advice. Is it only for in between connecting flights? Would it be worth it leaving London for example if we have extra time between checking in and flying ? Mostly my flights transiting in either in the middle east or Singapore is usually under 2 hours so barely time to get off one plane and to the next gate. Want to get my money’s worth .
Yes absolutely do it before you leave London. Check which ones are on lounge pass dot com - make sure you choose one with good reviews. Get there extra early, check in at the max 3 hours pre flight and off you go! 2 hour layovers and you’ll only be in there for 45 mins tops so not worth it. #loungepassdotcon
Thanks @Cuttlefish , I’ll definitely do that if we leave through London, but now I’m considering just a one way ticket to keep my options open. Decisions decisions
