Searching for specific locations for a sit is a nightmare. Specific locations in London are limited to a few municipalities and when searching generally for places in the city the search result includes places in the countryside way outside the city.

I do it via my laptop, rather than the app. Pop in your specific place name into the search box, and then zoom into the map on your specific place to eliminate the outer area, that’s the easiest way I’ve found. The big list then just shows the sits within your place name instead.

Searches on THS can be super frustrating… especially when you try to save specific ones. Zooming on the desktop map can help.
But imagine there are cities in different countries that are being pulled into the search results of one of them. For exampe, when you search for Vienna in Austria, the results will feature hosts from Bratislava in Slovakia too. Interestingly, the other way around this doesn’t happen.
Their algorithm for how far out a sit can be from the searched city itself is very “generous” in some cases. It may be me being cynical, but it’s proabably to display more choice than there actually is…

Hi there! It can be hard to find sits for specific locations, especially within big cities. I think the best way to do this is on map view and zooming into locations you’re interested in. You could also add the filter “accessible by public transport” if you want to avoid countryside sits because you don’t have a vehicle.

Yes, this has always been the case. I’ll put in my saved searches a particular town, get excited when I’m messaged about matches only to discover they’re miles away.

Like in a different county altogether!! And not even close to the county boundary, there could be another county (or 2!) in between.
