Hi everyone
I’ve had to tidy up some posts to keep the thread on topic as per our Community Guidelines - best to use Direct Messaging if you’re having an off-topic chat in this case .

So, it wasn’t “broke” yet they “fixed” it!
Here is a message TH could have sent, but didn’t:
'We are sorry to share with you that we’ve made a disturbing discovery. It appears that a very small number of sitters have been abusing the ability to overlap sits, leaving animals uncared for: over several days, in one case.
Clearly this can’t happen again: for the sake of animals’ welfare, home owners’ trust, and TH sitters’ great reputation - not to mention TH’s own reputation.
We don’t know how many overlaps take place, as they don’t always show on our system. So we are asking you, home owners and sitters who have abundant collective experience, to share your experience, observations and ideas.
Please comment below with your thoughts on how this situation can be resolved to ensure constant care of animals, whilst maintaining all the benefits of overlapping sits.
We are sure to receive many diverse suggestions, and we would like to recruit a temporary (voluntary) panel of members to discuss suggestions and help the TH team identify optimum solutions and implementation strategies.
If you would like to be part of this panel, please contact membership services with the headline: I would love to help TH solve this problem.’
Edited to clarify: this isn’t a TH message, only in my dreams!
Well this is good news, shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted rather but it’s something. I guess their answers and suggestions are all above but a panel of members is a great idea
Edited to keep on topic as requested on the thread
I don’t think it is genuine offer from THS.
Its an offer @Sunshine_G thinks they could have sent out…but didnt!!
@Colin oh, my mistake lol Still half asleep here in Oz Going to delete my comment then, thanks for the heads up
Oh!! I read it that THS members (some) might have received that message, just like some members, but not all, received the recent survey. Just goes to show how careful we have to be writing and reading! If there ever is a panel Colin, you should definitely be on it!
I’m really failing to understand why THS is digging in its heels like this when they’ve clearly received a loud and clear message from sitters. Most companies would pay $$$ for feedback like this!
Just spoke about all of this with a host who is a major website developer. He’s appalled by this policy as well as the lack of functionality for hosts to change dates easily.
Even large companies like Airbnb are more responsive than THS. Do the higher-ups really not read the volume of (negative) responses to this change?
Ooops! Sorry! Edited.
@ere while I agree with your comments, THS do care not what any of us think!
Edited as off-topic, please start a new thread or use the spyglass to continue discussions about other features.
@Knowmad member since 2019. So weird we posted the same thoughts today! Refer to my post on the Survey topic.
Agreed. I’ve been a member since 2019 and have seen the same thing.
Also agreed! We’ve both been sitters for the same period. It’s such a shame.
I’ve today booked a sit starting on the day the previous sit ends. They’re both with another housesitting platform however. As others here have said, I spoke to both owners and it will easily work. The first sit is a cat so owner ok with my leaving early to go to the second sit which is a dog. However, they’re just 11km apart so I can pop back to the first sit if the owner is delayed. No pets will be abandoned. Everyone happy
@Smiley this is also possible on THS platform . In this instance THS did listen to the feedback that starting a sit on the day another ends does not mean pets will be abandoned .
So the platform doesn’t block you from applying for a sit that starts the day another ends .
@Knowmad - there was a very similar sentiment on Trustpilot yesterday (Duane). I have been a sitter since 2013 and have seen all the changes and the resulting issues.
For what? I think you might have replied to the wrong person.
I imagine there will be some interesting conversations happening between the ‘higher-ups’ at the moment.
My guess is that the only feedback they take notice of is public feedback, such as reviews posted on Trust Pilot. But only in very high numbers.
Edited to keep on topic and due to posting guidelines.
the problem of having numerously sittings overlaps is pretty easy to fix… simply block to have more than 2 sittings at the same time. there’s no reason why a person should have 2 sittings at the same time right? how someone could have 6 sittings at the same time and this is petsitters problem??? this is something that is because the plataform allowed.
Another way is allow the sitter to have the same quantity of sittings at the same time as people in one profile. If they’re a couple 2, if it’s a single, just 1. Still doesn’t solve problems for single sitters but…
