I was looking at my public profile today and I noticed that one of the reviews that a homeowner left for me is now listed as “Former Member” and the written review they left isn’t showing, all that is showing is the star ratings.
I assume that this is because the homeowner no longer has an active account. I’m not sure why the review would disappear though? This is a review that I earned and the homeowner said nice things about me. I would still like their review to show on my account even if their account is no longer active.
Luckily, I have a lot of reviews but what if I only had 2 or 3 and one of them looked like this. I would hate to not have the written review show if I was relying on it to get a housesit.
I think it is when a member leaves they can request their information be removed from the site. That includes any reviews they left.
I am not sure @Jenny if the same applies to sitters who leave. If they ask for their information to be removed would their reviews of homeowners also be removed?
Under GDPR, European consumer protection law, companies must remove data (including reviews) if a user requests it. Otherwise, the business risks being fined a percentage of their revenue.
There’s also a U.K. version that was written after Brexit.
That’s annoying and you’ve been given good advice. Your experience is prompting me to take a screen shot of my reviews as I know a few people I sat for years ago are no longer members.
Good luck!
