We are sitters who have done 50 sits and were checking our old reviews. On a few we can see the star rating but the review itself is missing. We see the pet parent is now a former member. If a pet parent / homeowner stops being a THS member, are their reviews deleted? If so, that does not seem appropriate or fair. Anyone elese noticed this or have any idea what the THS policy is? This could be especially detrimental to sitters who only have a few reviews.
If a THS member quits and requests removal of their data/info, under GDPR (European consumer privacy laws), a company must comply. Otherwise, the business can be fined a percentage of their revenue.
For U.S. users, there’s no such law, so if they quit, their reviews are left up. For instance, I have two former sets of hosts who are no longer THS members, but their reviews for me have stayed the same as before. The only difference is, if you click on their photo, it doesn’t send you to their profile, because it’s no longer accessible.
this does not seem to be the case for reviews from Canadian HOs. We found the same issue as Wetravel above. A 5 star review was deleted from a Canadian HO who is no longer on the platform. The stars still remain but not the text of the review, which IMO is just as important. Our reply to their review is their but doesn’t mean much. I see no logical explanation for this and would appreciate having one
You should ask membership services, because they will know whether THS just applied a blanket policy if a member asks for data deletion. Some companies that operate globally do that, just because it’s easiest.
I’ve looked back at sits I’ve completed where the homeowner is no longer a member of THS. All the reviews they’ve written are still there.
