I posted for a pet sitter over the Christmas holidays and have not yet gotten a response. I would be fine with the sitter coming early and even staying until after New Years if it would make traveling easier for them. Should I change the dates of my sit request to reflect that?
Laur, yes the more flexible you can be over timing at peak holiday periods the more likely you will be to get a sitter
Yes I think so. Traveling over the Christmas period is usually expensive.
Yes definitely! But if you’ll be in the house over that extension make it clear. You might get lucky a bit closer as newbies or local people start to look into holiday sits
Thanks for all your responses. I will extend my dates.
Thank you. Since I am new to this site, I appreciate any info I can get.
Thanks, Chrissie
In addition to extending your dates, you could include in your heading that the dates are flexible so that is the first thing that anyone would see
Thanks for the advice. I didn’t know that I could do that. I thought of maybe searching locally so sitters could spend time with families over Christmas…
@Laur Getting Sitters over the Christmas holidays is competitive. You can attach your listing to your profile on the Forum in order to get some feedback.
Extending the dates and making them flexible is great idea!
What else can you do to attract Sitters?
Some ideas:
include car.
make it clear that a cleaner is coming on the last day.
allow full use of pantry and fridge items.
provide a dog walker (even if only for some of the days).
stock a few fresh grocery basics before you leave (eggs, bread, milk, fruit).
Others might chime in with other ideas! Good luck!
Thanks for the advice. I appreciate all the help I can get!

To add on, you can explicitly state in your welcome section that dates are flexible for that sit and then just call out the core dates you need.
Definitely cross post on here if it gets last minute and I think @PVGemini’s other suggestions are great ones.
Good advice. I appreciate all the support I get from the forum!
