What I am hypothysizing is that favorites get alerts sooner than saved searches and those results would happen more timely in the app.
I admit I am getting a little lost in the details.

Well in my case, I got the saved searches one minute after you posted and the favourites four minutes after.
New listing saved search at 10.23, favourite at 10.27
It’s wine-o’clock now, I’ll see what others come back with after your next trial
@pietkuip I will leave the dates up/live for this test run to see what your results were, as you probably got alerts during
EST signing off 11:01pm.
Agreed. Its what we always knew. Favorites are slighty faster than saved searches, but neither is necessarily fast enough for very popular destinations and the rule of 5. And, we all need to sleep sometimes.
Good morning!
I got a bunch of notifications:
The 03:48 and the 03:56 notifications were for the dates posted at 9:42 pm EST. So those were delayed 6 minutes (the favourite that I created on the web interface) and by 14 minutes.
The 04:27 and the 05:16 notifications were for the dates posted at 10:22 pm EST. So those were delayed by 5 minutes (the favourite) and by almost an hour (for the Saved search).
All three of us got the favourite at the same time, that is an interesting result. They seem to have a typical delay of between 5 and 8 minutes.
Ok. So testing is complete?
What would the take aways be for those following / finding this thread?
As a THsitter and home host, we are very casual users, so I have time to look at listings and favorite those listings in areas and listings in which we are interested.
We have solid back up plans.
We dont “need” lodging savings to travel easily.
We don’t experience the stress expressed over applying as some do because of being a casual user.
Would doing favorites be better for sitters?
Collecting favourites would be a good strategy for sitters. Those notifications have a delay of only five to eight minutes, and it is possible to decide faster because one has already looked at those listings.
But it would be a lot of work. And most of those listings would come up only once or twice per year.
Edit: yes, I also got a notification, 13:19 CET.
Lol. I have over 4000 And @HelloOutThere I just got another alert at 19:19 UTC +7
@Timshazz and @pietkuip Yes I did a quick post this AM as I noticed this when deleting the dates, so I tested.
Clicking rough dates did not change the listing.
I posted details in the “overlap” thread.
It would appear that doing “favorites” is the best option as all three of us got the notification within five minutes, all received at the exact same time. But isn’t there a limit as to how many favorites can be saved, depending on level of membership? @pietkuip I know you are on top of that point?
I think I’m grandfathered in. I have over 4000 favourites.
@HelloOutThere Sounds like there might be a new feature in the works.
I do not see anything about favourites in the tiers: Find the Perfect Pet Sitter! Home & Pet Sitting Made Easy | TrustedHousesitters.com
It is Saved searches that have limits. I have Basic membership so I can create up to three Saved searches in the web interface. The upgrade would give “unlimited” but that is not true: the maximum is 50.
(And in the app I can create 10 Saved searches, but the total is not 13 although these Saved searches are different animals.)
@pietkuip thanks, it gets so confusing!
I don’t receive push notifications at all - and never have - despite having confirmed that notifications in the app are set up to receive saved search alerts. It makes things much more difficult and we’re missing preferred sits.
MS says there’s no system error.
@Happypets … if you want to test this…I would be willing.
Can’t recall with whom I did this with recently after @pietkuip .
So we found out that push notifications for favourites get delayed by between 5 and 8 minutes. I doubt that this is a technical limitation (computers are supposed to be faster than that!). It is my impression that notifications for messages, accepts, and declines are much faster. So that would be something else one could test, how fast those are.
It was us
I have actually never received ONE alert on favorited sits. Any suggestion why that would be? Thank you
@BeckyOnTheHill Nor me. I know you must favourite sits on the app- not the website -to receive push notifications (which I’ve done). I’ve even tried deleting all favourites then uninstalled the app and uploaded / reinstalled, then saved favourites again. I’ve confirmed that notifications in the app are set up to receive saved search alerts, but still nothing.
