Sitter asking to leave early, advise please šŸ™

@Jamesandpie Thank you for updating us on your situation and response. I believe you made the right call. Considering how her messages have changed, I would either copy or summarise her WhatsApp request and the decision you made in a formal chat through your Inbox so there is a record for THS to refer to. Take screenshots as well in case she deletes them. Please include this request and your decision in your review of her and whether to deduct a star for the Organised category.

@Jamesandpie, thanks for the update. I hope you will reflect the situation in your review.

Perhaps, but thereā€™s no way to know it and I think it is completely irrelevant. What we do know now is that she wasnā€™t really honest when she said:

If she had been sincere, she would have apologized for the inconvenience and kept communication as fluently and friendly as before.

The ā€œreliableā€ category and also ā€œcommunication.ā€

Unfortunately, ā€œCommunicationā€ is a category THS only applies to owners, not sitters.

Thatā€™s 3 days earlier than the commitment and quite a lot to expect from the HOā€™s. Suggestionā€¦ If you can find a substitute/neighbor, do it; if you canā€™t, hold her to her commitment. Then, consider NEVER using that sitter, again.

I hadnā€™t noticed that! Good point.

Hi Systeran. I donā€™t think anyone commenting thinks they are perfect. The issue isnā€™t the mistake. The issue is how the sitter communicated this to the host. Edited: Because I went on way too long]. Some of us might suspect another agenda in the sitterā€™s looking for a solution that works for both. This doesnā€™t make us awful suspicious people. It makes us people who know that not every member ā€“ sitter or homeowner is 100% honest. The story the sitter gave on its face has holes you could drive a truck through and the bit about ā€œfiguring something outā€ sounds like an invitation in which the homeowner might be asked to contribute to travel expenses or something else if the sitter has to return.

Although your sitter has asked nicely their lack of planning really shouldnā€™t make it your emergency. I would ask them to respectfully honour their commitment to you, in an equally nice fashion.

I completely agree with your comment.

For what itā€™s worth, well done.
