Sitter cancellations seem to be more frequent

@colleeninNYC - It’s not a black mark as such but all cancellations default as cancelled by host unless member services are advised otherwise.

This record is not published anywhere so no one outside of member services knows if a host or sitter has repeatedly cancelled.

THS have no way to know about sitters that repeatedly cancel unless the respective hosts inform them it was discussed in a previous thread and commented on by one of the moderators

If there is a situation where either a sitter or pet parent cancels and, for any reason, it does not sit well with you, it is important to email support@trustedhousesitters.com as membership services can log this on their account and therefore monitor any further behaviour. This is especially important for last minute cancellations.

While emergencies can happen and are fully understandable, TrustedHousesitters continues to encourage the platform’s ethos of both reliable and trustworthy sitters and pet parents/owners.

Also to mention, that as the pet parent/owners are in control of their listing, no matter who cancels, only the pet parent/owner has the ability to cancel the sit and relist.

Sitters who repeatedly cancel sits?

There are many sitters on THS who have never cancelled a sit and would not do so even if a “better” sit came up . I include myself in his category. Understandably there may be exceptional circumstances where a sitter does need to cancel a sit at short notice . However , on this forum I am frequently reading about sitters cancelling . Since HO’s cannot write a review about a cancelled sit , where is this information recorded ? How does an HO looking for a sitter find out if a sitter is reliable…
