Sitter gone dark!

A sitter applicant has gone off grid for 5 days. We hadn’t confirmed either way. She’s still showing as an applicant so does that stop other applicants ?

@Sr5410 - you are able to receive up to five applications and then your listing will automatically pause. If you haven’t reached five you are able to receive more.
Once you reach five you need to decline some of the applicants and unpause to receive more.
Hope that makes sense!

If you would like @Sr5410 you can decline the application with a note as well, especially if this thsitter is one that you no longer wish to pursue.

It sounds like they potentially decided not to take the sit and then are ghosting because they don’t want to say no - even though this is causing you more stress than a straight no. Or they could be ill/dealing with a family emergency it’s hard to say.

If you have other applicants pursue those. If not - consider deleting and relisting your dates so the sit shows up as new again?

In the same way as there are HO’s who take their time before replying, it seems there are sitters who do the same, even though you would think that it’s odder since they initially actively pursed your sit. I’d give this person the benefit of the doubt.

As a sitter I wouldn’t be deterred from applying to a sit even if I saw that there’s already one applicant. One is not an amount that would lead me to believe that the HO has already made up their mind.

If you had a video chat with this person and sent them a confirm and they haven’t responded in 5 days, I’d reach out through whatever means you used to do the call and give them one more chance to respond.

If you hadn’t even gotten to the video call, I’d just decline and move on.

The problem is that I want to confirm another applicant but system won’t let me as it says I already have a sitter. I don’t already have a sitter. Help !

@Sr5410

These are the instructions for cancelling a sitter confirmation request.

The sitter has basically been “greyed out” so has the confirm button so can’t decline. The help desk is useless as there’s no one to respond with just that stupid bot

@Sr5410 sounds like they are no longer members ( maybe they didn’t auto- renew OR they have been removed from the platform over a complaint )

When you go to live chat :speech_balloon: type “ speak to a human “ or send an e-mail to:
support@trustedhousesitters.com

If the sitter’s membership expired they won’t be able to read any messages that you sent them via THS . (including the invitation to sit )Maybe they didn’t realise that the membership lapsed . Do you have another way to contact the sitter have you got their mobile number ?

Resolved. Thanks all. I deleted the sit dates and then re-entered them and was then able to confirm the sitters and they confirmed back. THS help desk useless !

Yes it does! And it’s not fair!

Strange but today I received an invitation to sit but it, also, was all greyed out. I could read it - just - but couldn’t do anything else, reply etc

I ended up uninstalling the app and reinstalling and it was back to normal. I wonder if this “greying” thing has anything to do with the current inbox trialling because I’ve never seen this before. :face_with_monocle:
