Sitter to stay in Airstream trailer at RV park?

Hi! I am curious if it is appropriate/desired to have a sitter come stay in my Airstream travel trailer (with my two doodles) for 2.5 weeks? We would be at a (nice, safe) RV park near Los Angeles, CA. I live in the Airstream full time and will be traveling to New Zealand for a vacation. I looked through the site and didn’t see any postings like this, nor any mentions of RV/trailer experience on any sitter profiles. Is this an accepted use of this site? Just looking for some advices or thoughts before I proceed with paying for a membership and posting the job. Thanks!

Sounds cool to me! It’s your home, so it will become the sitter’s home for that time period. If your listing is clear in its description and photos, I don’t see why it would be any different to a normal housesit. Some sitters might be curious about living in an RV and might jump at the opportunity to sit for you. It might even inspire them to buy one!

It’s a wonderful experience and opportunity.

@shanpromo Hello and wishing you a warm welcome to the forum community. I have seen a houseboat, a tiny home and a caravan on the website before, so as others have said as long as you are clear in your listing I am sure that it would be attractive to sitters.

As a full time sitters traveling the world, we think it would be great! Some people might not be interested, but I’m sure many (like us) would.

We are currently in New Zealand on 3 months worth of sits but would certainly apply to your sit if the timing worked out as our son lives in LA.

As a sitter, I’ve seen a few sits in travel trailers and boats and everyone has a different idea of their perfect sit. I’m looking forward to a sit in a couple of months in a park model home in a holiday RV park. Looking forward to meeting different people and engaging in the activities there! I’m sure you will have no problem finding a suitable sitter.

Hi @shanpromo - you will definitely get lots of interest. It is always nice to find a sit that is a little different/quirky in some way.
We have done a sit on a houseboat which was great and I have seen a few caravans listed

Welcome @shanpromo. As a sitter I love variety of places I get to sit (so far everything from a studio flat to a country house in acres of land) so yes I don’t think asking a sitter to stay in your airstream will be an issue.

I’ve seen sits in caravans/trailers, boats, tiny houses, etc. One of my first sits was a tiny house, and I chose it because I was curious to live in a tiny house. I am sure you would find someone. Good luck.

Unfortunately I signed up and tried to submit a request for a sitter for this and was denied. I was told it is not a “fixed residence” and therefore I cannot use the site. I am very disappointed as this seemed like the perfect option for us! I appreciate all the support in this thread but wanted to follow up so others don’t sign up for an account assuming they can use it in this way.

@shanpromo As long as your sitters are not able to drive it during their stay I would list it as a caravan or holiday home - or whatever is the nearest option
