Suspicious invite?

A few months ago, there was some kind of THS hack in many people got an invite to a bizarre suspicious sit. I just received a similar suspicious invitation for a two day sit in Gualala. Wondering if anyone else got this and there is another security breach? Thankfully, I learned my lesson and didn’t dare open it.

Hi @Freebird, Gualala CA, US?

Honestly, no idea I’m scared to open it, but definitely not anywhere close to my location. It it’s the same thing that happened last time- my normal invite show up as push notifications on my phone as well as an email but this one came with no push notification, only the email which is what happened last time there was an issue. Wondering if other folks are also receiving it. Maybe it’s legit and just a bizarre fluke, but it feels off.

I understand Freebird, any introduction message or jsut an invitation?

I searched “Find a house to sit” and there is an active “LAST MINUTE” sit, two days , in Gualala, CA, US. with 15 5 :star: reviews.
It seems solid.

You can do the same and compare if it’s the same HO/location that invited you

In our experience, we received a message from Honduras months ago, and one from the US. We are petsitting in Europe, so that’s what we relpied cordially.

In the first case, it seemed like random people were sending the message as a general offer, worldwide . The second, a couple who weren’t very tech-savvy and just liked the profile and invited us, not realizing we were on another continent, lol.

We also received that scary Scam message on January, but it was not an invitation… it was a message pretending to inform an account suspension or so, including a possibly malicious link.

Thank you. It felt very similar to the South American invite many of us got a few months back that was a hacked account. This must be somebody who is new to Ths or is not tech savvy because I live nowhere near California and I’m certainly not about to jump on a plane for two days to go there🤣

I know the lady Mary from The Gualala sit! She’s great, the dog Bindi is great, and I wonder if someone hacked her ? Weird. But it is a real sit, lovely one on cool place on the coast in Northern California.

I’m so glad it’s a real sit and I hope she finds a wonderful sitter. Didn’t mean to alarm people just seems like there’s so many scams these days! I tried to delete the thread because I don’t want to discourage folks from applying to a real sit and it sounds like a lovely one, but the system doesn’t allow it.
