Absolutely tragic a friend i know from Alaska has been traveling there for 2 months, fortunately she’s in a region that’s not on the fault line and is safe. However, last month she was in the region that got hit hard. Prayers for all effected by this devastating tragedy

Thanks Karen! We were in this exact region for 10 days and stayed in two of the cities hit - such a huge tragedy, made worse somehow by having had such wonderful exchanges with the people of this region. It broke my heart to see this had happened and just a few weeks after we left. Very, very sad.
My son’s form teacher at school is from this part of Turkey. Initially she didn’t know if her family were safe. Thankfully they are. She has found it very upsetting seeing news reports.
And the tragedy continues to unfold. At least there was one bright beacon today as I learned they found a woman alive even after 90 hours. This is all just so heartbreaking.

Mexico’s army welcomed a new search puppy on Wednesday which was gifted from Turkey following the death of Proteo, the Mexican rescue dog who had been helping to find survivors of February’s massive earthquake near the Syrian border.
The 3-month-old German Shepherd named Arkadas, meaning friend in Turkish, will join Mexico’s famed canine unit, which specialises in helping locate survivors in a country prone to earthquakes and other natural disasters.
