The time has come to renew, but what about sitters fees?!

SO for those who have paid to renew and are now being charged fees for each sit- i am curious to hear if you have noticed a difference since that change? I know many members of the forum have years free thanks to referral codes but sadly isnt the case for us.

Unfortunately our renewal is up in a couple of weeks and while i had previously thought i would renew regardless, now i am not so sure as we have a couple of pre planned holidays for the next academic year that dont involve pet sitting so unlikely we will get more than a handful of sits in.

Am i right that in order to negate the sit fees for a sit, both sitter and host have to be premium members?

That is correct. Premium members do not pay a booking fee. Anticipate how many sits you will be doing once you renew. If your booking fees will add up to more than what the premium would have cost then upgrading may be a better option if you continue to use this platform.

No, it doesn’t matter what the other member’s level is.
If you are premium, your booking fee is waived.

No that is not correct as only members who have the Premium do not pay, it doe not have to be both partys

If you plan to do more than 12 sits a year, it’s worth it to upgrade, otherwise I wouldn’t bother. Personally I plan to do about 3 long sits with THS, and the rest, if i do any more, will be repeat sits off platform, or elsewhere. So the most they will get out of me is £27.

Yes, my renewal will be up in a bit as well and I’ve had zero success getting extra free months to defer having to pay the booking fees, that as a long time THS member (2015) I’m very much against.

Although over the years I’ve recommended THS to quite a few people and shared the link, none of it has led to an extra 2 months. I’ve tried Facebook forums this year, but again nothing.

I only use THS 2-3 times a year these days, as the 5 application rule introduced a few years ago, has drastically reduced my access to suitable cat-sits in mainland Europe.

So I’m wondering if I should just cancel my THS membership after 11 years, as I’m not willing to pay booking fees on top for no extra benefit.

@catscatscats24, we suspect that this is very rare indeed. We’re only aware of two or three THS Forum members that have years of free referrals. THS does not publish data on referral credits, but we’d guess that many THS members secure adhoc referrals to boost their paid renewals.

I too have been a member of THS since 2016. I’ve decided to migrate away from THS and am doing my best to take my regular homeowners with me to a new platform. At the moment Global Pet Sitter (can’t post a link but it’s that name all joined up with ‘.com’ on the end) is free to join while in the early adopter stage and has no booking fees. Only a small number of sits on there at the moment but growing nicely. I’ve definitely seen European cat sits on there. Might be worth a go?
