The unexpected call you never want to get

Sorry for your loss it’s a tough one this… like all major life events it’s unexpected even with elderly relatives and we can’t put our lives on hold in fear that we might get that call. I’ve recently had ‘that call’ fortunately we were in the last 2 days of a sit in Perth Australia and it took that time to scramble my travel plans together to get a flight to Jersey UK… 2 flights and 22 hours from take off to landing. Also going from 39° to 1° was pretty tough! But I made it and instead of spending a month in Thailand as planned (no sits) I spent a month in Jersey! Hubby finished up the sit and came home more slowly via Bangkok using the original flights..My beloved Auntie died aged 85…. leaving my Uncle Tom 89. Sits in Jersey are now even more needed so that I can support him. I’ve done one already and another in 2 weeks plus a sit booked for Xmas his first alone so felt important to do that.
An important footnote though- our travel insurance didn’t cover me as it was ‘only my Aunt’…. the thing is she was my 2nd mum and had been since 2000 and they had no children and we had no parents (all 4 had passed by 2003) so we adopted each other she was my mum’s best friend and sister. She absolutely loved following my THS adventures.
