The Updated Code Of Conduct

I have an online job I sometimes do that has a strict code of conduct. Every month, it pops up and we have to reread and re-sign it before we can continue working.

We probably don’t need anything that strict at THS, but a yearly forced re-reading, and a obligation to check off that you’re aware of and follow it every time you accept/offer a new sit, wouldn’t go amiss.

Hi @Itchyfeet

We are repeating the messaging throughout the user journey to reinforce the code of conduct.

A good example is external cameras or recording devices, we state this information again when the user is adding information about home & location.

However these key messages can be overlooked, so we are constantly reviewing the placement and language we use.

Many Thanks, Ben

@Ben-ProductManager , It would be a good idea to include the no-third parties information as well, since this seems to come up frequently.

@Angela_L I noticed a listing today in which the owner stipulated that they wanted a hot meal prepared for their arrival home, as per THS guidelines.
This is something that I have often done in the past if departure time allowed for it but is it specifically mentioned anywhere? If it is I couldn’t find it. :woman_shrugging:

Hi @CathyCat I think the owners have misinterpreted the guidelines. Preparing meals or catering of any description is not included anywhere.

Could you Direct Message me the link please as we will reach out and offer guidance.

Thank you.

@Angela_L , I have messaged you.

:star::glowing_star::dizzy::sparkles: OH MY STARS :star::glowing_star::dizzy::sparkles:

Luckily I “stipulate” that I’m available for hire if they want to take advantage of my services as a professional chef.
:rofl:
I’d still be buying groceries and they’d reimburse me at cost, just as my “real” clients do.

@MissChef I do think it was a misinterpretation on the part of the owner, it’s been altered now.
If I had been applying for the sit I would have been happy enough to do it, I often have something cooked for owners returning home.
I queried it because I didn’t want to be in the wrong if I didn’t do so. I know there have been changes to the code of conduct since I was last a member.

Once again, I have to advise that new Home Owners are not aware of contents of the Code of Conduct, especially the policy on third parties.
I had a long conversation with a HO following my application to sit. After about 20 minutes I asked if she was aware of the Code; she was not. I mentioned Third Parties to which she advised me that there may be someone staying during our the week long sit. I advised that I could not commit to the sitting and she was most put out.
I do worry that any future applicants may not ask this question and will be surprised to find someone else staying there for the duration.
Surely, there must be a better way to ensure that HOs know and adhere to this Code?

@itchyfeet I whole heartedly agree about the COC. Perhaps THS could implement a step in the process whereby when a home owner lists a sit a pop up appears prompting - have you read the COC, does your listing comply (i.e. no visitors during the sit etc), policy on cameras etc. If owners are only using the platform 3 or 4 times a year it is unlikely they will remember all the details from one listing to another so this would be a way to refresh their memories.

Hi @Itchyfeet & @LizBCN thank you both for this valuable feedback, I have passed it on to the team.

It could be a check-markable item in the Welcome Guide.
