I have 2 days between my sit in FL until my next sit in Atlanta. So I am looking at hotels. But there is a sit in Atlanta, which fits my 2 days. I apply, explain that I cannot be there until mid afternoon. If that doesn’t work, let me know and I will withdraw. I am waiting to book hotel, to see if I have to or not. I am unread for for 5 days. And sent another note and nothing. The sit starts Friday, it is Monday and nothing. I find that strange. I can understand if she read, keeping me as backup, waiting to see if another accepts, but I am unread.???

The host could be unaware that there is an application / message in the THS inbox -
If they have unsubscribed from e-mails they won’t get a notification/ or the notification e-Mail from THS may have gone to their spam or junk folder .
They may have made alternate arrangements and forgotten to remove from THS and so are not checking THS website or App .

I contacted THS and they are going to ask the HO if they found alternative. Apparrently they didn’t read any applications.

THS contacted them and they read the applications. No immediate declines, so i guess they are still looking for someone on Friday. Strange to wait so long to review after posting when the sit is days away.

I think following basic Airbnb or hotel standards would make sense. We become accustomed to specific standard provisions, like shower gel, shampoo/conditioner, hand soap, hair dryer, basic coffee, iron/ironing board. So, traveling to stay in a home where the basic supplies are not consistently present can lead to either overpacking or doing without. And although folks may have a preference for their own products (I like my favorite shampoo!), they could get by with basics.
The stay I am at now, packed away all the shower stuff. I bring my own anyway, but yes, most leave shampoo, conditioner and bath gel as a courtesy.
I am irritated. So now the HO has seen the apps. The sit is Friday. And no response. I can book a hotel last minute but I keep checking my inbox so I can respond. It is 2 miles from my other sit in Atlanta so it saves me $220 in hotel. But it is irritating checking my inbox all the time now.

Send a follow up message saying please can you respond asap as this is only three days away. If they don’t engage promptly then you a) know you need a hotel booking & b) don’t want to sit for them as they don’t value your time. #balancedpartnership

Send them a follow up msg. Tell them you are just 2 miles away and would be a perfect fit for them. If they don’t respond ASAP drop it- they are unreliable or undecided. Either way don 't count on them.

Move on , red flags .
if it’s already causing irritation before the sit has started you are better off booking a hotel and enjoying the two days of freedom .
We once applied for a sit a couple of months in advance and heard nothing right up to sit start date …and still nothing 
If you still really want to keep the option of the sit open , book a hotel room that can be cancelled and refunded.

It is Atlanta. And I am in FL now. So getting a hotel is not like there is a convention this weekend. I can book last minute. My problem is that I cannot get there until mid afternoon on Friday. Since I have to drive from my current sit. I told her that in my app. She may be checking others who can get there earlier. But it is crazy that she didn’t review last week right after she posted and people applied. That THS 'had to remind her she had to pick someone or cancel. Her reviews are not bad. She is a medical student, so probably crazy schedule. But still. I would be on top of care for my pets if I was traveling.
@Huronbase you have described this as odd, strange, weird. It seems like a lot of drama for a 2 night sit.
@Silversitters advice to book a hotel and enjoy the 2 days of freedom seems very wise.

It’s frustrating when you see an opportunity to fill a small gap in your sitting schedule but hosts don’t respond promptly, since you can’t then finalise your own plans. Ultimately, one has to make a decision, either to withdraw the application - as you would with any other hosts who don’t bother to respond - or else keep on waiting, despite the signs that communications on this sit won’t be the greatest even if you are invited. Ultimately, only you can make that call.
We’ve been in similar situations and have withdrawn if prompt response is not forthcoming. Is it worth the stress, really? Not to us.

So, why wait, why put up with it. Because I have made an appointment to buy new front tires. So spending $550 tomorrow on those, would love to save $220 on hotel. Even if strange and weird and being kept up in the air. There are no in house toddlers on that sit.

I am annoyed. So the recycling was out when they left Sat. Told that Monday night, I put the recycling back and put out garbage. But it was a holiday so they never picked up recycling. But I put garbage out. Seeing everyone else’s recycling was out. I walked the dog around 7:30. checked and they still hadn’t picked up anything. Went to grocery store later, came back at 9:30. Everyone’s bins are still out on the street. She sends me a message that the neighbor told her that the recycling bin was still out and she would get fined. I go out and yes they came, but the neighbor’s. all the neighbor’s bins are still out. But there is a camera on the gargage. I am stunned. I am angry. I am so concientious and so check if I brought in the recycling bin an hour after they came? Maybe she should be so concientious about all her clutter.

I know many will just say withdraw app, but posting since it is irritating. I applied for a sit in May, it was the exact length I needed, timeframe, location. I applied 2 weeks ago. Not read. Irritating.
