THS email confusion

I’m new here (HO). Signed up a week ago. I believe I’m live. It says so on my listing, but I’ve also received emails from THS as late as yesterday that my listing is ‘almost live.’ I’ve also invited several sitters and have received responses. Mostly declines. Indpls in Dec doesn’t compete with Naple, FLA, I suspect. Anyway, am I live or ‘almost live..?’ In gen’l,

I feel ‘mostly alive..’

You must be live @findingzzero1 if you’re able to send invites out. The best way is not to invite individual sitters, that’s like looking for a needle in a haystack sadly (are they free, are they active, do they want to sit for your dates, where are they based at that time, do your pets suit them & on it goes). Best way is to create a great listing, add lots of pics, make it warm & welcoming, detail clear responsibilities, show that you understand and appreciate that it’s a mutual exchange, and off you go! World’s your oyster. There are lots of threads on here to help if you use the spyglass plus tips on the THS sit on “how to create the perfect listing.” #giveitawhirl

This, just in from THS.
‘A sitter has saved your listing.’
When I follow the link it says ‘no sitters have saved your listing.’
I’m old. Am I having s stroke (or is THS)?

The fact that a sitter has saved your listing doesn’t mean they’re available for your dates. Sitters will be prompted that you have posted your dates and will no doubt apply if they’re available. If they don’t, they aren’t.

If you’d like to get feedback on your profile from forum members you can add your listing to your forum profile: How to add a listing or profile link to your Forum profile!

Thanks, but that doesn’t my question.

@findingzzero1 I’ve just clicked on your link (which ends with “preview”) to the listing. You don’t appear to be live yet - a neverending hourglass and a short glimpse of a text saying “We are sorry” comes up, not the listing.

@findingzzero1 , I’ve corrected your listing link. It can now be viewed in your Forum profile.

@findingzzero1, housesitters can favourite an unlimited number of listings.
Often used in conjunction with Saved Search, we use this feature to help future notifications of listings that meet our entry-level criteria (location, pets, property, etc). Sometimes it reflects a great listing but the dates do not work for us. We’d consider applying at a future date.

That one (or indeed many) housesitters have favourited, or saved, your listings does not suggest any form of commitment at all. It does not mean that they will apply. If a pet parent listing is favourited by many housesitters then it may reflect that it is somehow popular so probably will not find difficulty in securing housesitters.

Good luck!

I need a sitter for early Dec. Nobody yet. It was the reason I signed up for THS. If nobody applies can I get a refund? Cheers, Julian

@findingzzero1, THS staff do not monitor THS Forum. Recommend contact THS Member Services via phone, chat, or email support@trustedhousesitters.com. They can confirm your eligibility and action refund as appropriate.

your listing is definitely live. 2 Gorgeous dogs.

Some of your house photos seem blurry, out of focus.

As a non American -What does non addition home mean?

In your listing it says you like to discuss politics. I would not apply, and I suspect many others would not either. So my suggestion is, remove the part about discussing politics and renew the listing. Of course, if you really do want someone to discuss politics with, then you have made the correct call to list it.

You seem to share some misunderstandings about how THS works. They are common misunderstandings for new members.

Sending invitations directly to sitters is a VERY low reward approach. Instead, consider that your listing is like an Airbnb listing interesting enough to attract sitters already looking for sits in your area mid-December. Toward that end, I’ll suggest the following changes to your listing:

“Non-location” is a term I’m not familiar with at all. In looking it up, it’s what we’d call “unincorporated”. Neither term is very useful for a sitter so just leave it out.

Scrap your current title. At a glance, it is not informative or intriguing. Most sitters will glance at the title and move on. Maybe change it to something like “City-Rural home on 1 acre near Eagle Creek Park in NW Indy”.

The introduction is your 2nd chance to catch a sitter’s attention. Skip your age information as irrelevant (other than to you) and add a paragraph about your dogs’ personalities.

For your location description, I’d briefly describe your home and property and then quickly move on to the bit about Eagle Creek City Park which seems like it should be quite a draw for some sitters (almost 4000 acre nature center and home to ospreys and bald eagles within city limits). Then describe proximity to restaurants, grocery shopping, coffee shops, … and conclude with a description of your home.

Good luck.

Hi again, I see you have made some great improvements to your listing. I hope it sets you apart from the others in the area. I would now apply if it fit my plans and schedule. Welcome to THS and Good luck.

I got one reply then ghosted?

Hi Just a question, now that your listing is ‘live’ have you actually posted your dates so that they come up for sitters to see and express interest?
