Last time it happened in Sweden, the supermarket chain that was affected was giving away perishables.
Many chain supermarkets in the U.S. have backup generators, so their perishables don’t end up ruined.

This was because cash registers in that supermarket did not work. Even cash (which nobody has in Sweden) they could not handle. The software problem took days to solve. It had to be done by a computer person at every cash register of that chain in the country.
Power outages are very rare in Sweden, and don’t last long. But then one can get free ice cream

I’m scheduled to fly home today (domestic flight, west coast of US). . .fingers crossed. I am terribly homesick and can’t wait to get home!
