Travelling Adventure-Cat tales

Reading another thread where someone wanted to take their cats on a sit, I thought about the various travelling cats I’ve heard of, and a couple whose adventures I’ve followed online.

“1bike1world” … young Scot decided he wanted to bike around the world. A few months in, he found an abandoned kitten. She was clearly sent by the Cat Distribution System to join him on his travels. She rides in a basket on the front of the bike and they’ve been travelling for much of the last 7 years or so.

“Van Cat Meow” … guy caravanning around Australia with his cat, and then got married and his wife joined them travelling. They’re not on the road now but there are many stories on his page.

“Fisher the Maine Coon” … was a sailboat cat, who has passed away but his siblings are carrying on the adventure tradition.

What travelling cats have you heard of?? Please share! :grinning_cat:

There’s a gorgeous instagram feed called @awayonearth where they rescued a pup (sorry you said cats but wanted to share) from a taped cardboard box and have now travelled to more than 40 countries with him. He’s called Elko. The guy gave up his 9-5 and off they went with the aim of being the most well-travelled dog ever I think. #lovethefeed

I love seeing pets live such adventurous lives. It really shows how adaptable some cats can be. For anyone thinking about traveling with their cat, I’d suggest starting with short trips to see how they handle it before attempting longer journeys.
Reminds me a bit of planning a desert tour, where testing things out on a small scale first can make the whole experience much smoother.
