I will be housesitting in Tunis for 3 weeks, dec 12th to January 2nd, then another week to go wherever I fancy.
Is anyone in Tunisia at that time, who would like to meet up?
Or, if anyone has any great suggestions for places to stay away from tourist crowds?! Im averse to tourists…. Hey yes I know i AM one….

Hi @LancashireLass
Won’t be in Tunisia at that time, sadly, but wow — what an incredible three-week sit you’ve lined up. Tunis has such a rich, lively heart to it.
And as for being “averse to tourists”… honestly, you’re doing it the way locals wish everyone would: settling in, slowing down, and letting a place reveal itself. That’s not being a tourist — that’s travelling with a bit of soul.
If you fancy somewhere quieter after your sit, consider Sidi Bou Saïd once the day-trippers leave, or head down to Mahdia for calm coastal days and a totally different pace. Both feel worlds away without needing to trek far.
Hope you have the most brilliant time exploring your own favourite corners of Tunisia.

Fantastic, thank you! Im a keen birdwatcher so that often takes me off the beaten track.. (birds just love a sewage farm!!)
The wonderful thing about housesitting: well, there are many, is we get to stay in regular residential districts, rather than resort areas.

Oh I totally get what you mean, @LancashireLass! For us, it’s all about the mix — travelling, hanging out with pets, and really getting a feel for everyday life in a new place. We love settling into a new neighbourhood, meeting the locals, and just enjoying life as part of each little community.
