That is what I do too and I believe they all transfer automatically to my app
@LIQ Have you confirmed another sit yet? I’ve been reading your posts as I catch up on the topic and I’m interested to know how you’re getting along with this site.
Applied 2 days ago for a sit that starts in six days, it shows 0-3 applications and is still an active listing, but our application is still unread. I would delete our application, except that we really want the sit. There are no sitter reviews, so I’m guessing this is their first listing and perhaps they are familiar with the website and protocols. Any advice?
This has happened to me. The dates came and went and I was never contacted. Sometimes people post a sit and they’re not even sure of their dates or even if they are really going away. A HO I applied to told me they weren’t sure if, when or where they were going and asked if I would wait. I passed. Other HO were waiting until they had a sitter to plan their trip. I accepted and am very much looking forward to it.
Who knows, sometimes! We applied to a new HO listing a while ago and, while our application was read, we got no response. We eventually received the automated notice our application was declined.
I was curious (aka nosy ), so made note of the dates and checked back to see sitter feedback and reviews. I have checked on the THS App where you can see all sitter feedback, even if none was left, and there has never been any.
So who knows what the HO decided to do. Sometimes you just have to shrug your shoulders and move on. NEXT!!!
@sailorgirl Some HOs don’t bother replying. I don’t take it personally. But I had an interesting one the other week. I had applied several months ago, and my application was ignored. And then months later, out of the blue they invited me for a sit, and said Sorry about the one you applied for… We changed our mind and didn’t go away. But there was a review left for those exact dates! Hmm!
I guess they felt guilty for not replying.
PS: Welcome to the forum!
They took the sit down, still without ever reading our application. How hard to just say that we had a change of plans. I’m trying to give them the benefit of the doubt Thanks for the group think!

Sometimes owners can be registered on several sites and not update when they have chosen their petsitter.
That’s a good point, I hadn’t thought of that.
If your free 9-19th May we desperately need a sitter?? Here’s hoping!!
I’m having the same problem. I’ve sent numerous requests and most are sitting unread. Don’t know the answer to this!
hmm, setting a precedent of untruth is not a good start to a TRUSTED housesitter relationship, I’d say. Did you take it or give a pass?
Yeah I passed!
Hi Laura! Yes, I did get one more sit, so two so far! My first one starts next week. Super excited!
Lots of good points here. Applies both ways - as a HO seeking to arrange a trip away we’ve had a few instances of a ‘conversation’ with a potential sitter just going silent. I think a simple ‘sorry, busy now’ or ‘no thanks’ always better than no reply (or worse, ‘unread’); the basic principle is ‘be nice’
This is one of the major pet peeves for any sitter using this site. I would suggest the website to make automated responses for homeowners so it’s more convenient for them to reply to sitters. Things like “Sorry, next time”, “Pending, finalizing candidates now” would be good. I understand they feel overwhelmed by the amount of responses they get, but sitters also deserve a response.
As long as the demand from sitters far outweighs the supply of homes, this situation will continue. Frankly application is the most unpleasant part of the THS experience for me. And THS has done very little to make it pleasant for both sides.

I dont know where you are (globally speaking) but the current perspective on the forum is that there far more home-owners than sitters.
I thought that was what I said lol. Demand > Supply
You did, but you said it the other way round from me: more sitters than home-owners.
Really? For the coveted sits in popular cities like NYC, Paris, and London , it’s not the case at all. At least the ones I have applied for. Usually there’s a lot of competition, like at least 15 sitters vying for one sit. It’s brutal out there!
