I like to try a different cafe each week in my home City after volunteering in the Toy Museum.
This is an Italian family run cafe called ‘44’.

Reading this wonderful rescue story. This hero deserves a pint for sure!

My wife would jump in if I said, “

there’s a Snickers in it! “( Snickers is the name of a popular chocolate and nuts bar in UK)

If you’re looking for a fun sit come to quirky Brighton in Sussex England.

I just finished a pet sit in one of my favorite towns, Santa Barbara. I wondered how it would go, as I had sat for the same couple a year ago. Sadly, the last time I was to sit for them, their dog Lola, had a stroke the night before and by the next day, had passed. I had a feeling this couple would not go long without a dog and I was right.

They called a couple of months ago to let me know that they had adopted a 3.5 year old Golden Retriever and asked if my little dog Shula and I could come and sit. We introduced the dogs before the sit and I’m happy to say that we had a wonderful time with Ollie. It brought me joy knowing that the owners have recovered from their loss and rescued a new sweet boy.

I serendipitously connected with a potential host in NYC and we video chatted today. As soon as we started, they mentioned that they had had a semi-retirement job that involved helping people at a nonprofit. And they said that they were interested in me as a sitter, because of a startup that I’d helped build (mentioned in my LinkedIn profile), because it involved helping people and was very trustworthy. Lovely to hear that even years later.

They’ve asked me to watch their cats in a high-rise condo with a view and volunteered to leave me all of their museum passes, because they read that I enjoy museums.

That’s so wonderful to find such a great fit! @Maggie8kAndMaggie8kAnd to know people really do read our info and act on that in such a wonderfully positive way!

I’m crazy about museums too! I have to read every label and exhibit otherwise I don’t feel I’ve done it justice.. my wife? After a short while she heads for the cafe and after a couple of hours ! I join her there! It’s how we make a museum visit work for us both lol!

So glad the Home Owners felt another adoption was the answer.. I think you’ve been adopted by them too! That’s so lovely to know! Thanks for sharing the experience.

My wife and I are having a couple of nights in the same hotel in Madrid to meet up with a Canadian cousin of mine and his wife visiting Spain.. the weather next week is back to rain so maybe galleries and museums will be the order of the day! We are spoilt for choice in Madrid.

I once had a week pet sitting in Madrid and the dog went to doggie daycare as the owner normally worked from home on line.. so from 9.00 till 5.00 Monday- Friday I had that time to myself.. guilt free. But I had him all weekend, which was fabulous. I felt like a divorced Doggie Daddy! It worked well for everyone. He met his pals and I saw museums and galleries after the Pandemic restrictions were lifted. RESULT!

This brought me joy today. The beautiful response to Punch’s difficult start in life. So much interest and publicity for the little mite!

Feeling Punch

You come across as upbeat and constructive, so I’m sure your hosts and sit pets get great care from you. And it’s healthy that you and your wife have worked out what works for you both.

The divorced doggie dad reference is so cute and makes sense. Enjoy!

Always a pleasure to wrap a happy sit and to hear from your hosts without any nudging needed.

So I’m in the land of bullfighting. Yes I’ve been to see the bullrings and the museums with all the regalia and photos of this activity that is a passion for some and a cause for public demonstration against this barbaric activity for others. Some areas and islands of Spain have banned the practice.

When challenged on the topic I say well it’s obvious that it is culturally important for Spain and other countries that continue the tradition.

I have never attended a bullfight myself but I have seen coverage on the tv of bullfights and bull running in Pamplona.

Imagine my joy at this news item. A woman entered a bullring and rushed up to the bull . Instead of sticking it with barbed banderillas, she came to give it a big hug! The bull’s reaction ? He loved it of course and kept calm and friendly. Doesn’t this speak volumes?

This raised the bar a little. Of course we’ve all seen football matches being interrupted by a surprise appearance of some creature or other. During a Brazilian football match an opossum ran across to liven up the match!

This is a pet that’s going places fast! Aren’t they cute?

A cat sat in an outdoor sink brought both of us joy today. She ate her biscuits and then sat there watching the world go by. Not even one of our six on our sit but how sweet she is :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: #sinkdweller

This brought me joy today. A very young Jabali ( wild boar) was alone and abandoned seemingly. He decided to join a herd of cows who readily accepted this newcomer. He stayed happily with them. The village has adopted him too and the hunters have agreed that his life will be saved. This is no porky pie!

This brought me joy today. The cat owner is diabetic and has a watch that lets him know when his blood sugar is low. It raises an alarm that the cat hears and responds by bringing his owner a sweet!

Sweetness overload.

Caption but the cat knows it has to bring sweets to the diabetic owner.

Top Cat!

Who doesn’t enjoy a good sleep? Well these bears in UK are the best! Three months they’ve been hibernating and now they are awake once more. Three months! Recharged for sure!

The fact they are out of hibernation is a precursor to the arrival of spring! Oh joy!

Happy to be out enjoying the beautiful Spring weather. It’s especially nice for me because I’m improving my walking a little bit more. Some of you may recall that I broke my leg in early November and it’s been a very slow and long recovery for me but I’m certainly getting there! :slightly_smiling_face::sun:
