What do you recommend doing in Denver with a pup?

Hello everyone!

The Forum has so many experienced, well-travelled members with a wealth of knowledge about all kinds of places, and we thought it’d be a great idea to ask for your recommendations, which might just help someone with a future visit! We’re starting off with Denver, Colorado.

Whether it’s a hidden gem, a popular spot, or an event that’s perfect for our canine chums, let’s build a list of suggestions that everyone can enjoy!

We’d love for you to share your go-to pup-friendly places, activities, or tips for navigating the Denver area with a pup in tow. Do you know of a café that welcomes four-legged friends? A hiking trail that’s perfect for all skill levels?

We’re looking forward to hearing about your favourite spots, and watch this space for more chances to share recommendations for other locations! :dog::sparkles:

I’m sure others are thinking the same as me, your post may help THS from a search engine perspective but not sitters or owners, unless they specifically live in Denver! It’s supposed to an international site!

Sorry to be harsh, but it needs to be said.

We have plenty of other content on the forum relating to specific destinations and asking for advice and recommendations.

I understand from other forum discussions that Denver regularly has a high number of sits.

Suggestions of dog friendly places are useful, especially for sitters caring for dogs.

There is obviously a plan to repeat this for other destinations.

This is perfectly appropriate content for the forum. It won’t help me, but it will help lots of sitters visiting Denver.

I really like that there will be separate topics for different destinations, as it will make it easier to refer back to and search for a particular destination. Yes, I suppose this also makes it search engine friendly, but it’s easier for us to search the forum for it too.

Poor @Jenny seems to be getting a bit of a rough ride lately. This is potentially a helpful new series of topics that will be easy to refer back to.

Not exactly what you are asking for, but
A suggestion for someplace really worth going to but you need a car, most of the day, and the dog isn’t welcome - https://www.wildanimalsanctuary.org. A 45 minute drive NE from central Denver.

Hi @HappyDeb

Sorry to hear you feel this way. It’s fine for you to focus on the content that matters to you, there’s never any expectation that our members should interact with anything they’re not interested in.

Thanks @Debbie - that’s exactly what we’re doing here - and there will be more destination discussions in the future.

Thanks for your suggestion @toml - it’s a great suggestion for someone who is sitting a pet that can be left at home if the sitter is wanting to explore

I spent 3 months pet sitting in Denver earlier this year. I took dogs to City Park. Luckily I had a couple of sits that were in walking distance of City Park. There are lots of state parks in striking distance from Denver if you have a car. You can get a park pass if you think you can hit several while you are in the area. Most of them allow you to bring dogs (there was one that i looked at that didnt allow dogs). We also took one of our charges to Red Rocks Park. It was beautiful! There are lots of opportunities to hike with dogs in the Denver area.

If you have a dog that likes to chase a ball there is Fuller Dog Park. The park comes with tons of tennis balls. We sat a dog that lved in walking distance from the park. He loved it.

Another thing we did with dogs in Colorado. We weren’t in Denver, but rather Grand Junction. We rented a jeep and took the dogs out into the wilderness to hike a trail with arch formations. Im sure there are remote places one could get away with dogs on the Denver side of the mountain too.
