What is wrong with my favourites list?

May I ask - how do you search for Favourites only?

I use THS always on my laptop (I don’t like typing anything beyond short messages on my phone). I’ve never seen any filter that allows me to filter on my Favourites only. When I go to Favourites in the drop-down menu under my name, what I get is purely the messages I’ve exchanged with /sent to them.

Equally I’ve never understood when sitters say they withdraw their application: where? How? When I’ve sent an application to an HO, it’s shown as a message in the Inbox section and I’ve never yet seen an option to withdraw it…or I must have completely overlooked that

Also, the external contractor has you by the balls.

I was involved with an educational activity/competition organized by a bunch of Swedish universities. First the programming was done by volunteers. Then they got some money and they found a contractor. And then the contractor started charging exorbitant amounts for the smallest changes.

Something similar has happened to Warmshowers (the hospex site of touring cyclists).

Untick the date box.

(Yes, undocumented feature…)

what I get is purely the messages I’ve exchanged with /sent to them.

The other favourites are further down (next page). It is only recently that I have seen those.

Yup, that definitely can happen to some companies.

Bigger picture, even you happen to hire the best outside tech folks or grow enough to afford great tech people, startups don’t ever know how the business will grow and evolve even if they eventually end up successful. None of them has enough visibility and money to avoid tech problems.

The closest most people come to such a scenario in real life: People buy starter homes and remodel, expand or upgrade to better homes over time. It’s not as if you have the resources to buy your dream house from the start, and your needs change over time. So you do the best with what you have at a given time and then do better as you’re able to. But in that scenario, you’re not getting complaints from tons of people, because they have to share the house with you, LOL.

And even the biggest, most successful companies in the world have tech problems. Much less a company like THS, which is relatively small (only $100 million~ valuation is nice, but still small in the tech world, which is why they were acquired by private equity and didn’t go another route). Plus, THS went through a major rough patch during the Covid lockdown — revenue plummeted and they shrank their staff, from what I’ve heard. That means there was a long stretch when they probably let many things go more than if they’d grown steadily.

“How do you search for Favourites only?”

“They withdraw their application: where? How?”

I can do both of these only on the app

I can make a tutorial to send you or post here if you would like.

@Bluehorse: I use THS almost exclusively on website, via iPad.

To withdraw an application, I open my application from my inbox and click on the dates and that will launch a pop up that asks whether I want to cancel. Then I click again to cancel. (I don’t have any outstanding applications right now.)

For favorites, I can click on Favorites from here, under my profile (it doesn’t matter whether I’ve ever traded msgs with those hosts):

Thanks both @ExploreDreamDiscover and @Maggie8K - perhaps on iPad you’re also using the app??

I’ve been using the website for 9 years, and have never yet seen that pop-up, or any possibility to click on the dates that I’ve applied for.

Looks like the app has certain functionalities (incl. Favourites sit search) that the website unfortunately doesn’t have!

No, I use the app very rarely, when I need it to check for missing reviews when I vet potential hosts. I use the website almost exclusively.
