We had two cats and a chicken once. The chicken’s name was Harriet, and she was like a little human. My hubby would unlock her run in the morning and she’d waddle out after him, clucking all the way as if to say “Where HAVE you been??” She’d get a plate of food that consisted of dried mealworms, chopped up grapes, and various other delectables. Once she polished that off she’d come inside the house and plop down on the sofa to watch tv with us. Later in the day we’d skewer a small corn cob on a string hanging from the bbq that she would peck at. The fact that it swung every time she pecked meant it looked like she was a boxer training for the ring, so we sent the owners a video of her with the “Rocky” theme overlaid!
She was absolutely hilarious and the owners were awesome. Harriet has since passed on but we’ll always remember her!!
Took care of a Labrador female, spayed, who was a few years old. After eating her dinner (only meal of her day), she’d get very excited and run around and then wad up and hump her dog bed repeatedly. At first we were afraid it was because she had a urinary problem or something but when I texted her owner, she replied “oh she just does that.”
I looked after a lovely female Chocolate Labrador called Hetty. She was very chilled and happy to walk or not. When it was meal time for her and I was preparing her kibble she would make a little dance. It was done only then and made me really bond with her. That moment when you’re hungry and a plateful arrives in front of you. Yes a highlight of my day too! Such a sweet girl whose pleasures were simple.
We completed a sit with a male and female dog. Before departure, the [really lovely] pet parents stated intent for puppy litter. At express request of pet parent, with concern for pet injury, we facilitated the mating process. Multiple times.
