Just a quick, fun topic to kick start the weekend…
Whether you’re travelling, or a homebody, most of us have a favourite mug.
I think you can learn about a person from their favourite mug, so today I’m asking you to share about your favourite mug in the comments, whether it’s a treasured Le Creuset or a novelty mug with sentimental value!
I’m curious to see what you have to share! Does your favourite mug travel with you?
I’ve been on the fastest roller coaster in the world and bought two of these mugs. They keep soup and drinks really hot and I’m so fond of them. Luckily we haven’t damaged them as it must have been ten years ago we went on the ride! You could pay extra and get a seat right at the front. I remember we wore protective eye goggles and they sprayed water on the tracks as the friction caused at such speeds was quite significant. It was thrilling but I remember thinking, as I was getting my face splashed, is that spit from the overwhelmed riders at the front!
As a teacher I took a group of students to Lightwater Valley and got stuck at the top on their “ Ultimate” ride. The passengers are not insured so we were taken down with ropes one by one.. I delayed the school party’s return after lecturing everyone not to be late back to the bus.
I could visualize the news item “ Teacher arrested and suspended at amusement Park.
Yes it’s a recurring nightmare lol.
This mug is ideal for fast food and fast beverages !
“During early 2011, combined sales at the Portland locations were estimated to have been about twenty tons of doughnuts per week in the summer.[5] In spring 2011, the original shop was remodeled to add space from an adjacent building, mostly to expand the kitchen.[11] By 2011, the two Portland shops and the shop in Eugene were open 24 hours a day.[5] The Portland shops were also hosting legal weddings and commitment ceremonies.[5]”
The mug is nostalgic for me, because it reminds me of decades back, when the doughnut shop first opened and created a cult following. My coworkers and I would rush there at night, in between putting together editions of the local newspaper. That was my first career, loads of fun and pressure. Seems like a lifetime ago.
This is another favorite, nostalgic mug. Waffle House is an iconic greasy spoon / diner-type chain, mostly in the Southern U.S. It’s open 24/7 and is very popular, so much so that the U.S. federal disaster agency (FEMA) uses Waffle Houses to gauge how badly a community has been hit by a natural disaster. If a Waffle House located in such an area can’t open, then it’s the severest calamity, because normally nothing stops a WH from staying open.
These are my two favourite mugs. They were created by a well-known South African artist who loves ‘quirky’. I also have a few of his paintings. I don’t travel with them, so I enjoy them every day at home. They have a funny way of always bringing a smile to my day!
