So you have discussed the lack of cleaniness with the HO and she (feigned) surprise. There is a chance that the HO will mention in their review that you are a ‘complainer’ in anticipation of a negative review for herself. You may as well be honest then in your own review.

Seriously, this is totally unacceptable, and unhygienic. It seems a lot of owners think it is ok to leave their houses less than pristine. If I was on this sit, I would probably contact them, ask them to send in a cleaner tout suite, and if they didn’t I would leave within 24 hours. THS terms say they must provide a clean comfortable home. You surely must as least give the lowest possible score for cleanliness. To give no review at all, is pointless.

They offered to get a cleaner but with the holidays coming up i had to wait until after Christmas which wasnt acceptable for me
Leaving isnt a option but after the replies on here ive decided to give a number of 1 stars

You can’t attach photos to reviews- I wish we could though. A few choice words regarding cleanliness/comfort. I think it needs to be stark.
“Regarding the ‘state’ of the home: shocking, requiring a deep clean by me to be barely liveable. Any future brave sitters, you get the picture.”

Can you explain why 3? What’s your criteria? To me it was more than just the kitchen but the kitchen is my priority because it’s where I have to cook and prepare MY food. In my eyes the cleanliness of the appliances and utensils was so unhygienic it was unacceptable
I might’ve given a few stars if the rest of the house would’ve been okay. Which it wasn’t unfortunatly

My star ratings for cleanliness
1* OMG I’m leaving before I catch something or throw up
2* they made minimal effort ingrained dirt but tidy
3* they forgot more than one thing eg kitchen bins/bathroom shower/hairy furniture/crusty oven
4* perhaps they ‘forgot’ just one thing eg didn’t empty bins/didn’t clean fridge/oven was a bit murky
5* yep this is like being at home

I gave 3 stars because I am nice. I don’t have a structured list like @BonnyinBrighton
If I used her criteria, it would have been one star. The kitchen was definitely unhygienic, the rest of the house was better though.

I’ve got FLU …. so now I’m buried fully clothed under multiple covers in bed with a Lemsip. One of the dogs is quite concerned and is keeping close by…..
meanwhile hubby is completely unconcerned and wants to know what’s for lunch
