@co_ri_na Does this listing mention at all in the home tasks/responsibilities section about how to leave the house? If not I would screenshot what is included in case they raise how you leave it (they could also change what they have originally written). I would only be cleaning the rooms used.
It would be inappropriate for me to give full marks for cleanliness on this sit. The kitchen especially did not seem to have been cleansed in preparation for my arrival when compared to other sits. However, with increased attention to this matter, these HOs could potentially get 5/5 in the future.
Certainly just a rough draft but not emotional IMO. Please do review
One of my very first sits was at a house that was cluttered and could have been cleaner. I did leave a review and quoted the HO’s listing as a tip for future sitters -“Clean enough to be healthy and messy enough to be happy”.
This was before reviews were blinded and I didn’t have many at that time so I was wary about what I wrote. The HO actually commended me in her review for washing and folding the sheets (I always strip the bed and wash the sheets unless I’ll be leaving before I’ll have time to dry them - don’t want them sitting wet.)
Write a review without worrying about whether or not it’s emotional. Copy and paste it into Google’s AI tool Gemini and then add the instruction “remove the emotional language and focus only on the facts". Gemini will offer options and if necessary you can further tweak the suggestions.
Thanks for that, much appreciated even though these people seem beyond help
It’s not just the kitchen it’s everything and everywhere
And it’s not from a week it’s from months and months
It’s floors and walls and doors and door handles and tv buttons and remote controls, all appliances, even the vacuum cleaner is gross. The kitchen is just the worst because that 's where I need to prepare my food
Thank god they did clean the toilet
They didn’t mention anything in the welcome guide which I only received a day before the sit
Another mistake on my behalf I know
I’ve taken photo’s of everything but they can’t be attached to my review unfortunately
I most definitely will clean only what I have used
@co_ri_na I didn’t mean the WG but the actual listing because it is what is in the listing that the sit is agreed upon. If there is nothing like “Leave house as you find it” or “Keep our home clean and tidy” then you are under no obligation. That’s what the screenshot is of. No, you can’t attach it to the review but you have it as evidence if there is any backlash.
As new HOs they should have received an email from THS on how to prepare for sitters. They may have notifications off or not read it. You could quote the relevant part out of the Code of Conduct in your review and say “Sadly this was not provided for us, especially where cleanliness was concerned.” And do dock stars.
We started our 3+ week sit a few days ago with this little furball named Bear. I’m glad I was able to stop by the day before to spend a few hours with him and his “Mom” to get to know him a bit. He is super fun to be around although it took a day or so to really get him to not be so anxious around us. He has his funny quirks….Like running around in circles like a Tasmanian devil when he has to poo and he is definitely a slow riser and doesn’t like to be socialised with first thing in the morning. But after that all he wants are cuddles and of course to be carried around the house in his sling
If you put these two together, you may come to the conclusion that not giving an honest review may in fact be more harmful to the host and other members with just one or two reviews, as this can be regarded as a suspicious, charitable 5 *.
If, instead, the issue is nicely addressed and acknowledged by the host, there’s hope that this can be improved, also, sitters who live in a similar way may not not mind it.
On my third week of a long first sit. Absolutely loving it here in Vienna.
This morning, the elevator taking poochie and I to the ground floor decided to die…with us in it. Hit the emergency button and someone from OTIS Elevators came on and spoke with me. I have no idea whether either of us understood the other as he only spoke German, and I don’t.
Fortunately, after about half an hour a tenant from the building was able to get the door open far enough that I could get my fingers involved from the inside and was freed.
Life is made for adventures, isn’t it? Still laughing about it.
