Who's on a house sit now? How's it going?

Yup, the northeast is having a tough winter. Congrats on what sounds like a terrific sit!

Thanks @Edith, it was fun to be indoors and watch it, knowing we only had to walk in the snow outside, rather than drive . Some dogs love the snow, and these two seemed fine with it. Hoping we’ve seen the last of the white stuff, and spring isn’t too far around the corner!

Just looking for a bit of emotional support!

I’ve arrived at my housesit today. If I’m honest my hopes weren’t hugely high from the pics but selfishly, I needed a London stay this particular weekend. As feared, the house is tatty and very grubby. I’ve done some cleaning and discreet tidying (will have to remember where everything was) and the bedroom is fine with nice bedding and comfy bed. The owner was lovely, this is just the way they live……

Hi @MissisE Stay calm and carry on fits this scenario. Stay focused on the fact that you got exactly what you expected. You did not have high hopes and you got the location that you wanted. The way that you describe it, it sounds like you had lots of indicators about what you were agreeing to. This is very important in making selections. You have a fine bedroom and comfy bed. Are you getting some animal love? are they getting some of MissisE love?
Chin up, enjoy your weekend and prepare for the next one.
all the best!

Thanks for the lovely message! I’m fine. Yes, there were some red flags and I could have cancelled but would hate to do that. Some lessons learned I think…

After spending a few day reuniting with distant family (not seen since 2017), we arrived at our first ‘home town’ sit today. It’s amazing to be back near the town where we grew up, and where we raised our children. It’s a lovely colonial farmhouse setting in the woods, with two sweet girls to keep us company. The homeowners welcomed us with a nice dinner and a wonderful evening of friendly conversation. Bella and Naz have graciously accepted us as their hiking buddies, for the next 5 days.

I’m on a short - 3 night - sit near home.
Across the river from Washington, DC in Rosslyn, VA on the top (18th) floor. If you know DC, you know there aren’t many ‘views.’ Unfortunately even though I’m high up, the view is mainly other condo and apartment buildings. I can see the National Cathedral in the distance between 2 buildings and can watch planes on final approach to National Airport while they are using the river approach.
Very pleasant cat named Miss Savannah who brings me her toys to play with.

I am on my last day of a 10 day sit in Albion Park New South Wales. I applied just as Australia opened her borders. This is my first sit caring for Leo and Jinx. Two lovely black cats with piercing eyes. Leo is lovely, friendly and love to be rubbed but Jinx is very very shy and will stay hidden or scurry if she sees me. I am having a wonderful time hiking coastal areas amazing views. I do not have a car so had to contend to areas within easy access of trains or busses. I was hoping for some rainforest walks but many were damaged in the recent heavy rains and floods. Tomorrow is my 60th birthday and I am looking forward to my new found freedom and a new lease of life by visiting and hiking other parts of the world while being a nanny to cats and other smaller animals.

We are currently on a sit in beautiful Tasmania, Australia at Bicheno on the east coast. The home is on 6 acres on a cliff and overlooks the ocean. While it’s only 5kms from the town centre it feels very remote. It’s idyllic sitting outside ending the day with a local wine (Tassie is well known for great cool climate wines). We are looking after 3 gorgeous very friendly border collies, 1 aloof cat, 9 chooks and an impressive vegetable garden but still have time to venture out to visit some wineries and the local attractions. Here’s a photo collage to give you a taste of it.
