Currently just settling down with our new gang, two bulldogs, a black lab and a bearded dragon.
This is a local sit, about 45 minutes from home in a different part of Essex. We met the pets and owners twice beforehand as one of the dogs can be a bit of an assertive alpha male, but since arriving, he’s been a dream. Lovely pets, wonderful owners with a comfortable and relaxing home. They have even left us two bottles wine for us to enjoy in the hot tub.
On my first sit in Anchorage Alaska, I spent the first night (they were leaving the next day) in their pot growing cultivation guest bedroom with a connected bathroom that I couldn’t use because it had 5’ tall Cannabis Plants that were all run by Alexa (lights/fans, music, etc). In the middle of the night I re-packed my bags and wrote the homeowners in the next room, about my concerns—mainly I was concerned that they were running an illegal enterprise which they weren’t. We worked it out and I stayed. It turned out to be a fabulous experience with a wonderful dog and 2 cats. I learned after that to do a better job of asking questions and seeing the rooms posted, prior to my visits.![]()
@ShulasMom , what a novel experience! It makes for a great story! My husband says pot has been legal in Alaska since at least 1977, when he was there.
Holy smokes…pun intended ![]()
Wow! I had no idea it was legal there that long. This was 2017 before it was legal in California so that added to my angst. I couldn’t figure out why they left their windows open in Alaska in May, until I closed them while out for a day. It was quite an initiation to TH.
I so enjoyed my Jeju sit with a little Chinese native dog and 2 Japanese native cats. All had been adopted while the HOs were teaching English. Hoping to get back!
Almost had departure problems as I left on 2 Feb 2020 and my flights from Jeju to Shanghai were Covid cancelled. Delta got me home though.
Day 3 of the first of 4 sits/8 weeks in the UK. 3 weeks in Hayes while the family is visiting the US. Flynn welcomed me back, sleeps on the bed.
We took the train to the farmers market on Sunday (Flynn’s first train rides) and he did like being on my lap so he could see out the windows.
Cherries, tomatoes, peppers, porchetta from the Farmers Market at Blackheath.
Where are u now?
