Arrived yesterday to our 3rd overseas sit, and what a pleasure to spend the day and night with this lovely family and their adorable sweet girl Beegu. We’ve had such amazing, but brief, family time during all of our sits overseas, and it truly gives meaning to the words ‘THS family’ of pet lovers!!! Spending our time as locals, sharing meals, chats and discovering the community, are several reasons why we’ve chosen this lifestyle. How very fortunate we feel to be welcomed into each home, and to share in the lives of their pets, if only for a short time

We arrived on Tuesday to our longest sit todate, 4.5 weeks in rural Victoria, to freezing cold & wet weather (we Queenslanders think it’s cold when the daytime high is below 20). But that’s good as it’s a trial run on our new clothing for our 5 months in the UK from November.
We are in the Gippsland, just over an hour from Melbourne, which is known for dairy products and farm fresh produce and rolling green hills. We are just outside a small town of about 1300 people on the road to the ski field. We are looking after a gorgeous 8 month old Australian Shepherd, bit like a border collie, who is being trained with specific words (& treats) that we have to continue with, a beautiful ragdoll cat, a friendly horse who we have to give medication to each morning and 3 chooks. I started getting sick with a cold yesterday (first one in nearly 3 years) but thankfully not COVID which is everywhere here. Had to try 3 shops before I could buy tissues as the shelves are bare.
The sun has come out today and it’s our warmest day at 13 degrees, the first time in double figures since we arrived. We are enjoying the spoils of our day in the Yarra Valley wineries on Monday so life is good.
@Crookie welcome to the world of different temps, your clothing will be well tested 
thank you for the lovely pics of your new furry, feathered & hairy friends, they are adorable, especially the puppy. Please keep us updated on his training and whether or not he’s really a “Good Boy, or a VERY Good Boy!”

@Crookie What gorgeous animals in your care! I’m drooling over the rag doll. I can only get my cat fix when staying with others because our Australian Shepherd thinks they are part of her meal plan 
Did you know Aussies actually reign from California? They are in the herding category having lineage to the Collie which originated in Australia.
Best wishes with that 8-month energy! Our girl finally slowed down a year ago but she still outwits us every day

I have just ended my sit with Noodle. I have so many videos and photos of her. Since her homeowner doesn’t mind and given the ok, I have many reels of her in my instagram. Now I am at another sit in another part of Scotland. Taking care of an elderly gentleman Jack who needs oral meds for arthritis and insulin shots and a much younger Ella who needs meds for her itch.
It is a totally new experience to take care of these special needs pets. But I am up to the challenge.
She is definitely a boiterous 8 month old @KarenS and a garbage guts, she wants to eat everything in site even the chooks fruit & veg scraps!

We’re in Abbotts Ann, a gorgeous village in Hampshire with its thatched houses and cottage gardens. Very friendly locals - we’re visiting one this morning who we met yesterday at the village shop! Great walks to neighbouring villages, equally as pretty.
