We are currently on a sit which had to be postponed from last Autumn. It’s a new one for us in a beautiful house, great location that we have always wanted to visit and in the U.K. so no worries about foreign travel. The best bit? The pets of course - a funny, independent cat and the easiest and most lovable dog. The latter is on medication which clearly tastes horrible (he does the doggy equivalent of “yeuck”) and yet he obediently sits and takes it like the good boy he is. I have so missed my pet sitting. Yesterday my husband caught me sitting on the floor whispering sweet nothings to my canine companion. “You’re in your element, aren’t you?” he said. Yep, that just about sums it up…
This summer we are lucky enough to be doing two UK repeat sits. A chance to reconnect with the adorable pets, rediscover walks and excursions in areas we like. I love repeat sits because the HO knows you know the ropes and so we are all much more relaxed.
GOOD LUCK to everyone who is hoping to sit abroad and awaiting the latest developments.

How wonderful Diggy you sound so happy and “in your element” I know that feeling so well, the pets are obviously extremely happy too although I was a little bemused by this sentence …

“The latter is on medication which clearly tastes horrible (he does the doggy equivalent of “yeuck””

I had visions of you test tasting until I read it again!

Thank you for sharing and all there is to say is, enjoy your pets, people and places!

Hola! We are currently dog and house siting in beautiful San Miguel de Allende, high in the central mountains of Mexico. Our first international housesit since 2019! San Miguel de Allende is a picturesque and colorful colonial town, known for its old-world charm, neo-gothic churches, baroque architecture, art galleries and expats from the USA, Canada and Europe. We look after a sweet 12-year old dog, in an amazing house filled with exquisite art. We enjoy magnificent views of the town below us and spectacular sunsets. We appreciate every day in this very special place!

We were in Cumbria, UK last week on our first house sit since November! It had been too long and we so enjoyed being with 3 lovely labradors and spending lots of time outdoors in such a beautiful place only 2.5 hours drive from home. We’ve got plenty more sits arranged all in the UK

Thankyou for sharing your lovely pictures of one of my favorite locations in all of Mexico! We did 8 months over 3 repeat sits there a few years ago and had the most fabulous time in three different seasons. You are right about it being a special place. So glad to hear that you are back to house sitting again! P.S. Have you been to the botanical gardens (if they are open)?

Hi Vanessa,

Wow! 8 months over 3 repeat sits in San Miguel de Allende sounds wonderful! The botanical gardens are open (according to the website), but unfortunately, I injured my foot prior to coming here and I am on crutches, which is very challenging on cobblestones and where we are staying is the steepest street in San Miguel, in Ojo de Agua neighborhood! We went to Atotonilco and it was closed!

Definitely don’t go on crutches… there are too many big cacti to trip over! I’ve never been so fit as there on those steep hills… we were in Rinconada de los Balcones… steepest streets I’ve ever come across. Hope your foot heals quickly!

Hello from Alaska. We are on a house-sit for a week caring for 4 rescue dogs and a rescue cat. The dogs each have their own personality, of course, and range from big and fluffy to small and fluffy. The yard is big enough for them to play in and just hang out. Summer is approaching so the grass is green and there’s no mud or snow for them to bring in. Just the occasional mosquito will hitchhike inside. We haven’t had a chance to use the hot tub which the owners showed us how to work but look forward to that.

Hi @Margi-Curt thank you for joining us from your sit in Alaska and you have summer on the way which is a bonus … how are you coping with 24 hours of daylight …

“When the sunlight finally comes back in full force during early spring, many have reported “spring mania,” extra happiness, and a sense of energy. By summer, many people partake in midnight sun rituals like going fishing at 10 pm”

the animals must be used to it of course, do let us know. I’ve also heard that the mosquitos are a bit like those in Alberta, Canada and have their own runway at the airport:))

Enjoy being here on our community forum and connecting with other members, thank you for sharing.

Same here Annette, although we are in Quebec. CAN’T WAIT!! to get back into spending time with some pets.
