Who's on social media?

We love connecting with other housesitters and owners on social media and seeing all your adventures with furry friends.

We think there is already such a good community on Instagram, Facebook etc… and we recognise quite a few of you from Instagram and Facebook, but it would be great to chat and see your housesitting adventures!

We’ll start with:

We post about our full time house sitting among other things [being digital nomads and pursuing FI/RE (financial independence, retire early)] :grinning:

Love it, I was actually wondering the same thing today! I’m most active on Instagram but have got all the other channels as well. I post about house sitting and life as digital nomads but also other aspects of travel that my partner and I are passionate about (namely vegan + sustainable/responsible travel). Would love to connect with peeps elsewhere across the interwebs!

Would love to play this game but haven’t been able to do all the sits because of :microbe: - could post pics of myself sulking on the sofa eating Twiglets I suppose :woman_facepalming:t3:

I’ve spent 5 full days to try to write and publish my first blog (I require indulgence), it took me hours to understand some tricks (I still don’t) such as pictures which are not where I want them to be.
Any way this is the adress

The title sounds presomptuous but I had another project in mind .

Critics are welcome ! @ChrisAndSuzeGoWalkies @Saltrams @Jon-JWalking @alternativetravelers @ScrewTheAverage

Do you give your social media links to HO when you apply?

Well done @Provence, it’s quite long already so I just hit 2 pages for now. Why start in English? Surely you could give it your all in French & then grow from there? Maybe you wanted the THS audience, who are mostly anglophones? Anyway, keep going, it’s great to learn new skills & stuff!

I prefer to write @Saltrams in english as even with my mistakes i hope it’s better than a text in french automatically translated with google
When i see the french translation from my english text, it’s not good at all…

No, I meant why not have your blog in French?

@Saltrams this blog is for english speaking people. On THS i don’t see many french ads. The ones concerning sits in france are often published by english people who don’t always speak french
… once only i understood with the first name (with an accent)the owner was probably french. So i applied in french. But i’ve never seen a listing in french…

I don’t know yet If it is better to send the link when i apply, or later, once i would be chosen. Is my english understandable?or very weird ? All owners contacted have given me permission to publish photos of their homes and pets. A couple just asked me to delete their first name. Although their names and indoor photos were given in the advertising of their home, which was a “luxurious gite” (as precised on airbnb and 2 other websites)

I see. That is what I was wondering, whether it was a blog really just for THS or a worldwide audience.
If I had a blog, I would send the link with my application I think. Your English is very good, only once have I failed to understand one of your posts. I have never seen a listing in French either but quite a few in Italian. Is there a company like THS in France?

Well @Saltrams I don’t see who could be interested in a blog on pet sittings, if not owners ???

You can see many ads in french on Nomador, which is a bilingual web site (you can choose english or french) so many french people publish there, they usually seek french speaking people

As I explained on another thread (why did you choose THS ) Nomador has a major defect : if a sitter or an owner does not like a critic made by the owner or the sitter, then s/he may delete it. This might explain very few negative comments !

The only thing you can’t delete is “I don’t recommand” and that time the owner or the sitter has no possiblity to delete or make a comment in return !

Payments are not essential. You can subscribe for free, or pay for a month, one term, a year. This only allows you to see all photos published by owners, who can also specify they want only subscribers as sitters (it was my choice as an owner)

I’ve been very much desappointed by the ads in french ( orthography of the owners is often horrible !!! ). I found more sitters (5 in the past, from Belgium, Norway and France) than I applied for sits
the answering rate of the owners is shown

@Provence Sorry didn’t even see this post so had no idea you had a blog. Just visited and it looks good to me. Nice layout, decent photos, and quite a lot of content. Just need to publish regularly and build your audience now.

It is not made "to build an audience " i just send the link to HO when i apply as i think it’more personal than Ths profile…

It seems it helped me already to be chosen (for a sit at Xmas but the owners told they did not receive applications when before Covid they received 30+)

I will enrich the infos after future sits…
