A couple of people have commented that I have problem sits. But I am repying to topics about problems. So I decided to create a topic about some of the wonderful amenities that are sometimes had while sitting. Like now, I am in an apartment in Toronto, lovely gym, indoor pool and hot tub. Mpy stay in AR had a community center with gym, indoor pool, hot tub, sauna. My stay in Atlanta had a nice gym, a dog run on the 10th floor - great to go first thing in the morning or last pee before bed, while still in PJs. Also a free glass of wine every night and unlimited flavored seltzer on the lounge floor. Nice outdoor pool. Was chilly in late Feb but it was still nice to sun by and I did a polar dip every day. In Albuquerque, it was in the 60s and sunny in Dec. Took the dogs on the mountain trails, then hit the hot tub after. So I have had amazing stays.
That’s great to hear. We just started one yesterday in Daegu South Korea and it has a bidet and a water filtration/hot water/cold water/ice maker all in one. This makes me miss having a house.
I’m on a sit now near Windsor, England that (in addition to the two adorable dogs) has an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor hot-tub, and the house is full of old coin-op machines - a vintage jukebox, one armed bandit etc.
It’s a lot of fun!
On my most recent sit there was a juke box and a wall full of Vinyl LPs, with an invitation to enjoy all.
I think I might have misread this?
Is the bidet and ice maker all in one ?
@Silversitters lol you are killing me . Yes it’s an all in one bidet+all the other stuff. While using the bathroom I can make myself an ice tea
I must get one !!!
I don’t know how I have even managed to live without one of those!
I just applied to a sit and they said their home was a 5 star premium sit. What does that mean? It is a nice home, near the ocean in CA, but I have stayed in some really nice homes. Staying in similar in CA in May. I am wondering if their description is a warning about them.
I guess it means that they have had 5 star reviews and have Premium membership ?
Ask them what it means to them
Just applied. So no chance yet to ask. Seems like a very nice home near the ocean.
I’ve had weekly cleaning services at my last 2 sits, and, although I clean as I go, it was certainly nice not to have to do much at the end of these sits to bring the homes back to looking professionally cleaned. After 7 weeks of this, I feel truly pampered!
SO true! My last sit had a twice-weekly cleaner, and I almost didn’t know what to do with myself at the end! She made a point of telling me, “Don’t bother cleaning up your room and bathroom when you go. I will do that for you. They have been on holiday, so I have nothing to do either”.
Amazing. Ive been offered Sauna and Jacuzzi on my 2months sit outside THS just to arrive and realize they are not working. They also told me the drier is never used but the pet owner’s daughter uses it every single day so it was just to keep me away of it. Seems low. In the UK a dog walker charges 50gbp/day to pick up the dog for 3 hours and bring it back. The least you could do is provide basic cleaning items (for the pets and the sitter) including antibacterial hand soap. I unfortunately have only felt like a maid in all of my sits in England regardless of people’s origins. I had hopes that this site would be more like an exchange but sadly my experiences were way more positive outside of it.
Sounds like my current sit! I’m definitely getting used to it!
Wow. I’ve never had the kinds of sits you’re describing. I’m sorry this has been your experience. I’ve been both a HO and a sitter on the site since 2017. I only sat in England once. The only negative for me was that the house had three levels and very narrow steep stairs—that got old very quickly. I hope your luck changes.
my experience in the states, is that the nicer the house, the nicer the HOs. The only skanky house I have been in, the HO was unreasonable, dog very difficult. I took the sit because I had a dental appointment in the area. Next time – hotel.
I love hearing about all the different experiences, some of them sound amazing!
I’ve had some fun sits that include the use of their toys: boat, kayak, bike, snowmobile, a golf cart, I appreciate the little recreational enhancements.
