Hi there,

Sorry this Meetup Group has stopped now. I ran it every Sunday for six months and never missed a week.

I decided it was time to focus on other things. I am sure that there are plenty of people here on the Forum who would love to join a friendly support group again.

Perhaps you could start one?

Hi,

My name is Jess, Iā€™m a full time housesitter, funnily enough my home-base is also Gloucester, UK (although Iā€™m not there very often!). I love the freedom of this lifestyle and although part of a housesitting couple, I still find that Iā€™m missing community. I think some interaction with others who do this would fill that gap!

Iā€™m interested in starting these video call discussions again and Iā€™m happy to host them. It would be open to all (not just solo sitters). If youā€™re interested in joining, please let me know, Iā€™ll see how many people respond and then look at frequency.

The first call will be Sunday 15th February at 5pm UK time. Hopefully this time would mean that people sitting on other countries/continents can join too :crossed_fingers:

Well done Jess for taking up the mantle that @VanessaW introduced and did so brilliantly.
I would be interested in joining on Sunday 15/2 and should be on a repeat sit then. I live in Cheltenham and, having rented out my home for several years with a gap during Covid, Iā€™m now back in it and looking into paid sits. I loved being full time but got tired. However, I was never happier so will probably re-rent my house at some stageā€¦
I hope a few take up your kind offer and will spread the word.

Funny that youā€™re also ā€œbasedā€ in the county of Gloucestershire, there seem to be a lot of us with connections to the area!

I was not able to attend when Vanessa hosted but would still love to attend if they are held in the future. I wonā€™t be able to attend on February 15th because Iā€™ll be at the Olympics, but look forward to hear about future meetings. Thanks, everyone!

Hi Jess,

I will try to join on 15th Feb - Iā€™ll have to set a reminder as I forgot to join the book club last week!

Iā€™ll also be on a repeat sit, and Iā€™m also based in Cheltenham, UK. I sit with my teenage sons in school holidays and sometimes weekends.

We have met virtually on the book club in the past, and @Smiley was the first sitter I met in person - a few years ago now.

Iā€™m just boosting this up the forum page again (not sure if it works that way but thought Iā€™d try!). Iā€™ll be hosting a call this Sunday 15th February at 5pm UK time. If youā€™re interested in joining, please DM me your email address and I can send out invites.

It will be an open and relaxed space to swap stories and share house and pet sitting adventures with each other. Itā€™s not just for solo sitters, as being part of a solo couple I know that you can still get lonely - especially if your other half isnā€™t as chatty as you (guilty!).

I hope a few people will join.
